Those going to Whiskey Live this weekend? You will get first access to Celtic Whiskey Shops release.

Only the most exciting and  beautiful whiskey would suit a Celtic Whiskey Shop exclusive so we bring you the Killowen Single Malt Irish Whiskey - Chocolate Stout Cask Finish.

This Single Malt whiskey was sourced from the Great Northern Distillery after only ten weeks of ageing and matured at Killowen Distillery in a Beer Hut stout cask for three years and nine months, where it developed beautiful, velvety chocolate flavours, resulting in the name Chocolate Stout Cask.

This single cask only came to 252 bottles so be quick to get your hands on one of these.

Don't fret however if you are not going to be at WhiskeyLive this weekend (tickets still available for some sessions on their website) as this one will also be available in their shop & webshop.

50% ABV - 700ml

Aside from the obvious flavour expression, the texture is velvet.

We did mention chocolate stout before but it's simply a lovely stout cask from which boasts wonderful chocolate flavours.

Who's going to next week?

Some casks are ready sooner than others and this one has passed that test, so we are ecstatic to share it with you at a whopping 60.44% (very few spirits are viscous enough to be palatable at this strength).

There are a some differences this time to the mash bill and production that may have impacted the overall flavour and this can all be viewed on the hidden insert card.

The mash bill embraces our traditional and historical approach to Irish Whiskey while maintaining our contemporary ethos.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ginger bread, apricot & sultana. Almond paste and nutmeg.

Palate: Baked fig tart with brown sugar sprinkled with pine needle.

Finish: Nutmeg over baked apple and peach. A gorgeous example of what pot still spice should be when done right.

This is a big ABV. add water if you need to, but please enjoy the rare experience of the 60%+ abv, whiskey before you do.

We can't wait for you guys to try this one and experience the depth of flavour in this new release.
