🥔 School lunch, reimagined.

For our September Promotions Guide, we asked Toby, a Year 10 student who joined us for work experience, one simple question: what would you actually like to see on your school lunch menu?

His answer was homemade loaded potato wedges topped with pulled pork, cheese, crispy onions and BBQ sauce, served with a fresh side salad.

Toby took the idea from start to finish himself, developing the concept, cooking and plating the dish, taking the final photograph and even helping to create the social media content.

The result is a school-compliant meal built around familiar, street food inspired flavours, showing how listening to pupils can help create lunches they’ll genuinely be excited to eat.

Curry Season Starts Here…

With National Curry Week coming up and autumn menus starting to take shape, curry is the perfect seasonal focus. Warming, familiar and full of flavour, it’s a reliable menu favourite as the weather starts to cool.

This month, we’ve created two simple to prepare recipes using Knorr UK & Ireland curry pastes, designed to be easy to scale up for busy kitchens and bulk catering.

* Balti Chicken Thigh Curry with Peppers
Made with chicken thighs (32463) from our Butchery, aromatic Balti spices and sweet peppers for a rich, warming curry finished with yoghurt and fresh coriander.

* Monkfish Korma Curry
A more premium option using monkfish (61941) from our Fishmongers, paired with a creamy korma sauce, coconut milk, almonds, chilli and fresh coriander.

You can find the Knorr UK & Ireland curry pastes, chicken thighs and monkfish used in these recipes all on offer throughout September, making it even easier to recreate them in your kitchen.

As we head into September, comfort curries are coming back into focus. As the weather starts to cool, warming, flavour-packed dishes offer broad appeal and give operators plenty of flexibility across the menu.

Curries can work hard in the kitchen too. A strong base can be adapted across meat, fish and plant-based dishes, while simple finishing touches such as yoghurt, herbs, pickles, crispy onions and chutneys can add texture, freshness and a more premium feel without adding unnecessary complexity.

There is also plenty of opportunity to build value around the main dish, with rice, breads, sides, dips and small plates helping to create a fuller meal and encourage additional spend.

August on the farm…

It’s been a hot, dry month on the farm, with the team adapting daily to keep the herd comfortable and everything running smoothly.

From keeping the cattle cool and providing extra feed, to caring for the calves and finishing the combine harvest, there’s been plenty happening across the farm.

After such a prolonged dry spell, we’re certainly grateful for some cooler weather now!

🍛 September is serving up comfort, flavour and a little nostalgia.

With National Curry Week and British Food Fortnight both coming up, this month’s recipes are built around two strong seasonal menu opportunities.

For curry inspiration, we’ve created a Balti Chicken Thigh Curry with Peppers and a more premium Monkfish Korma, both using Knorr curry pastes alongside quality chicken from our Butchery and monkfish from our Fishmongers. Simple to prepare and easy to build out with rice, breads, chutneys and sides, they’re designed to bring plenty of flavour to autumn menus.

We’re also celebrating a proper British classic with our Great British Roly-Poly, three ways, using Hogs Bottom Preserves strawberry jam, marmalade and lemon curd for an easy seasonal twist.
