A little farm shop filled with plenty of reasons to stop. 🧀🌿

Our self-service shop at Piper Hole is stocked with produce made right here on the farm, including our homemade organic goats cheese, made using milk from our own goats, and our goats milk soaps made on site too. It’s easy to call in, have a browse and pick up something local to take home with you. You might come for one thing and leave with a bag full… it happens more often than you’d think!

Our next Cheese & Wine Night is in the diary! 🧀🍷

On 17th August, we’re taking things away from the farm for the evening and heading to the White Hare Café in Kirkby Stephen. 📍

We’ll be bringing along our selection of our cheeses to enjoy alongside carefully paired wines, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming some familiar faces and hopefully a few new ones too.

Our previous evenings have been brilliant, so we’re excited to take the next one somewhere a little different.

From our little corner of Ravenstonedale to your kitchen 🧀🐐

Everything in our self service shop starts right here on the farm. Our goats provide the milk, and from there we make our goats cheese and goats milk soap by hand, using organic ingredients and a lot of care. If you are local, passing through Ravenstonedale, or staying nearby, call in and have a look at what is on the shelves. Fresh from the farm, straight to your kitchen.

To find us, head down the lane and keep going past the trailer and shop signs. Once you reach the stairs on the right, head down to the shop! 🧀🧼

Inside, you’ll find:

🧼 A range of handmade soaps on the left-hand side
🧀 Delicious cheese on the right-hand side

Anything with a price is for sale, if there’s no price, it’s not available to buy.

Once you’ve chosen your items:

💳 Pay by card by typing the amount into the card reader and tapping your card/phone

Our Cheese and Wine taster night last night went down a treat. We had a selection of amazing Italian wines by Provino and of course our Piper Hole cheese to go with it. Thank you to everyone who came for another amazing night.

We are at the White Hare Cafe next in Kirkby Stephen on the 17th August and will be at Brough Memorial Hall in September with a date to be confirmed. Keep an eye out for more details.

Milking time is one of those routines that happens every single day, twice a day. 🐐🥛

Our timings might change slightly depending on what’s going on around the farm, but the goats don’t seem to care much about that. Their body clocks are always spot on, and they’re usually waiting for us morning and night, ready to head in for milking. It’s a routine they’ve got down to a fine art.

As the summer progresses we are able to harvest the meadow sweet heads to flavour our cheese. Meadow sweet originally was used as a herbal remedy, nowadays we just use paracetamol for that 😂

We prepare the heads for infusing in the milk as we go through the pasteurising process . The meadow sweet gives off an almond flavour which becomes a pleasant mild after taste in the finished cheese 🧀
