Time to put you all out of your misery, I suppose...some good guesses came in but none of you managed to guess that it was, in fact, masala chai!

While there's no Focaccia Friday this week, that doesn't mean I'm not keeping busy. Fat Tony never sleeps (he does...maybe too much, actually)!

I've been experimenting in the kitchen and present to you my latest creations!

Mmmmm...bottles of mysterious brown stuff...

Baby's first market (I'm the baby, for clarity)!

Despite being told by multiple people to take plenty of photos, I did not. I managed to get a few, but my monkey brain can't multitask/think about more than one thing at a time. So you'll just have to make do with this one photo (but doesn't the signage look good?!).

I had a great time at Fife VegFest yesterday! It was so good to chat to everyone who came along, see some new and some familiar faces, speak to the other vendors and get some amazing produce (including things that may end up featuring on the menu...).

The sandos sold like hotcakes and I had more than one person come back to tell me how good they were (one individual said it brought them close to tears...that's right, ladies and gentlemen...eating a Fat Tony's sando is a religious experience!). The brownies sold like, well, cakes. And people gobbled up the focaccia samples like ducks at the Bevvy Park.

Massive shout-out to the organisers, volunteers and everyone involved for creating such a great, community oriented event. Shout-out to Un:Wynd Kirkcaldy for the display cabinet as well!

Keep your eyes peeled for the next one.

Also, no focaccia Friday this week because I'm knackered and haven't had time to think about a menu...but normal service will resume soon, I promise!

Fat Tony's. Consistently inconsistent.

Bit wet out, eh?

Dreich days call for some masala chai. A sweet and spicy wee number that makes your mouth go "Ooh, what the f**k is this?! More! More!" and the next thing you know, you're guzzling it like there's no tomorrow and want everything to be chai flavoured (pumpkin spice, respectfully, can get in the bin). A chai cinnamon bun would be great, I reckon...

Anyway, now that I've got your attention, I have some good news and bad news...the bad news is that for a second week in a row, there will be no Focaccia Friday (sad face emoji). Regular Focaccia Friday customers, I beg your forgiveness. I haven't forgotten you. I'm just boy, standing in front of a social media platform, trying to figure out how to run and grow a business/be a responsible adult...and asking you to love me...

HOWEVER...
..The good news is that I'll be making my Fife VegFest debut on Sunday 4th October!! It's at Philp Hall on Links Street in Kirkcaldy, it's 11am-4pm, it's free (to get in, you still have to pay for the goods)! I'll be there with sandos and salads/stews, alongside a whole bunch of other megababes and their wares.

So if you've been wanting to try some Fat Tony's but aren't around on Fridays or don't live in Kirkcaldy, now's your chance!

All things being well, Focaccia Fridays will make a glorious and triumphant return the following week. Riding in on a gilded chariot, to rapturous applause from the adoring crowd. Rose petals raining down on it's golden laurel crown-adorned head.

I'm away to watch Gladiator now...

The observant among you will have noticed I didn't post a new menu last night...It's with a heavy heart that I need to inform you all that, unfortunately, there's not going to be a Focaccia Friday this week.

I've been trying my best to fight it off (mainly by avoiding spending time with other people, which is what I do anyway). But I've succumbed to whatever lurgy is going around now that the temperature has dropped by a few degrees and all those people with disgusting offspring have sent them back to school to spread their germs around.

Seeing as Fat Tony's is a one man operation, everything hinges on me being fit and able to keep up with your insatiable appetites. But absence makes the heart grow fonder, and all that. So I fully expect you'll all be rabid for orders next week when I'll have hopefully made a full recovery and posted the new menu.

Until then, stay safe! And don't sully your tastebuds with inferior focaccia sandwiches!

Well, since I declared summer officially over last week, we've had some unseasonably good weather. So you're welcome! But, in the words of Tom Waits, you can never hold back Spring. Or Autumn. Or the other ones.

This week's menu is filled with more classics than a packet of Fox's milk-chocolate coated biscuit bars with a cream filling, Classic...(I've actually checked, and there's 5 Classic biscuits in a packet, which is obviously more than the 4 dishes on the menu. But I'm committed to the bit now and it's a great reference).

Here. Is. This. Week's. Menu.

Sandos - £7.50

- Oyster mushroom shawarma sando, with hummus, pink onions, pistachio dukkah, pomegranate molasses, chermoula and rocket on za'atar focaccia

- Revolution chickpea sando - queen chickpeas in a garam masala and mango chutney spiked mayo with shredded lettuce and spring onion. With sliced cucumber, spiced puffed rice and a tamarind sauce

Salads/Stews- £5.50

- Rose harissa chickpeas with roasted courgette, red onion and peppers. (GF)

- Bulgur wheat tabbouleh salad with fresh parsley, mint, celery, cucumber, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, pomegranate molasses

You've got from now (Sunday night) until Wednesday night to place an order by sliding into my DMs and telling me what you want.

I'll then send you a payment link and confirm your order.

Come Friday you can either pick up from Fat Tony's HQ or I'll deliver (Kirkcaldy only).

Deliveries are done from 11am-12 noon but it's just me on my bike because I don't have a car (shut up!). So please bear with me if I arrive at your door looking like I'm going to pass out. I really do need the cardio...

Collections take place from 12pm-2pm and I'll let you know the top secret location and password when you order.

Hopefully that explains everything! If there's any questions, keep them to yourself...

Summer is officially over. I say 'officially'...I've just decided that it's now over. It's getting colder and wetter. The nights are fair drawing in. And I'm finding myself wanting to eat stodgy, comforting food. I mean more so than usual. I always want to eat big plates of beige and fall into a food coma immediately after. Falling into a deep and blissful post-prandial slumber where I have no worries or responsibilities...

So with that in mind, as we rush headlong into autumn (the most contemplative of seasons) I'm going to be moving away from salads and towards things you can heat up. But there might still be some autumn and winter salads on the menu. Because I'm unpredictable like that.

I'm also not really one for doing specials but I wanted to try out some Julienne Bruno superstraccia so that's made it into one of this week's sando options. Almost like a farewell to the summer. One last hurrah before we wave goodbye to the sun for another year.

For your delectation this week, I present to you, your menu...

Sandos - £7.50

- Julienne Bruno superstraccia, basil pesto, olive tapenade, roasted red peppers, toasted pine nuts, rocket

- Sticky sweet chilli and soya tofu sando with .co.uk thai chilli mayo, pickled cucumber, fresh spring onion and shredded lettuce

Salads/Stews- £5.50

- Ribollita - a warming and hearty Tuscan bean stew (it's technically a soup but I have an aversion to soup so it's a stew, alright?!) made with butterbeans, kale and focaccia croutons in a rich tomato sugo.

- Kale, quinoa and roasted sweet potato salad with toasted pumpkin seeds and sunflowers seeds in a maple and Dijon tahini dressing.

You've got from now (Sunday night) until Wednesday night to place an order by sliding into my DMs and telling me what you want.

I'll then send you a payment link and confirm your order.

Come Friday you can either pick up from Fat Tony's HQ or I'll deliver (Kirkcaldy only).

So this is the first Focaccia Friday menu in a post-Dolly Parton world, eh? In the words of the Dolly Lama herself, "if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain"...and there's certainly been a lot of rain today...I definitely thought an ark was going to appear in the harbour!

Talking of the weather, I am thinking about more autumnal flavours as the Earth's axis slowly, but ceaselessly turns us away from the sun's warm embrace. Casting us out to the cold and dark shadows of winter. The trees will soon shed their resplendent livery, becoming stark, skeletal centinels. Watching over us as we scurry about our daily lives, to-ing and fro-ing, hither and yon. Reminding us all of the relentless march of time. The fleeting nature of life. That some day, we took shall shuffle off this mortal coil. All we are, dudes, is dust in the wind...

Best make the most of it while you can and get your orders in, then! Here's your menu!

Sandos - £7.50

- Charred hispi cabbage sando with a tahini, maple, garlic and lemon sauce, .co.uk Thai crispy chilli oil, pickled cucumber, rocket and crispy garlic

- Sando of marinated artichoke hearts, romaine lettuce, capers, red onion, toasted hazelnuts and a smoked tempeh crumb in a butterbean, garlic, lemon and dill sauce

Salads - £5.50

- Giant couscous salad with cucumber, peppers, cherry tomatoes, fresh mint, olive oil and lemon juice

- Bibimguksu - Korean-style cold noodle salad of buckwheat soba noodles in a spicy gochujang (Bibim) sauce with cucumber, carrot, red cabbage, edamame beans and kimchi. Topped with lime juice, mixed sesame seeds and fresh coriander.

You've got from now (Sunday night) until Wednesday night to place an order by sliding into my DMs and telling me what you want.

I'll then send you a payment link and confirm your order.

Mind when you were wee and Sunday night meant having a bath and watching The Borrowers or The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and eating Angel Delight on the sofa in your jammies...? Or was that just me...?

Anyway, I can only imagine that's how you all feel, waiting for the new menu to drop...eagerly anticipating what treats are in store for your greedy, little mouths. Hoping one of your favourites will make an appearance. Already salivating at the thought of that first bite.

Well, wait no longer! The menu is here. Honestly, don't tell me it's too hard to choose. I know they're all bangers. But that's what Fat Tony's is all about. All killer, no filler. I mean, apart from the actual sandos...they're actually very generously filled...you're welcome, you ungrateful swines!

Sandos - £7.50

- Revolution chickpeas - queen chickpeas in a mango chutney and garam masala mayo with spring onions and shredded lettuce with fresh cucumber, spiced puffed rice and a tamarind sauce

- Pulled oyster mushroom shawarma sando with hummus, pistachio dukkah, pink onions, rocket, chermoula and pomegranate molasses on za'atar focaccia

Salads - £5.50

- Panzanella - an Italian salad of tomatoes, fresh basil, red onion and focaccia croutons...all drowned in a delicious vinaigrette

- Chickpea and mango salad with cucumber, pepper, red onion, tomato and coriander. With a spiced tadka dressing.
