A busy wee entrance at this hive 🐝 Can you see the chunky drone buzzing about? Male bees- drones get chucked out of the hives in autumn. I think these girls were trying to keep him out 🤣

🐝 💛 planting bee feed today 💛🐝 Oilseed r**e crop for 2027 going in now. The bees do well on this, the pollen is great for their brood and the nectar makes some honey too. As long as the weather plays the game.

My wee Scottish black bees have started bringing in some beautiful heather honey. They’re not in the highlands either but here in Fife in the Lomonds. 🐝🍯

Let’s hear it for the bees 🐝❤️

🐝 Our very existence depends on bees and other pollinators. Yet these guardians of biodiversity are under threat from human activities.

The good news is that we can all help protect bees and support beekeepers by growing native plants, buying raw honey from local farmers, avoiding pesticides and taking climate action.

On Saturday's Honey Bee Day, join us in celebrating the vital role these pollinators play in our lives.

🐝 ❤️Nature’s little builders never cease to amaze. ❤️🐝 My bees in this video are building wax comb to store their honey in. It’s incredible to think that what looks like a big cluster of bees is actually a busy construction crew at work! 👷‍♀️🐝 No architects. No measuring tape. No building regulations… just thousands of tiny bees working together! Young worker bees produce tiny flakes of beeswax from glands on their abdomens. They then chew, soften and shape the wax, building it into the perfectly organised hexagonal comb.

🌞🐝 What a beautiful morning in Fife 🐝🌞 I’ll be with my bees for the eclipse this evening -no surprise there then 🤣 Apparently they’ll return to the hive and will go silent at the peak of the eclipse. Fascinating 🧐 🌚🌞🐝
