The sun rises on the 44th Shetland Folk Festival 😎🎶

This entirely volunteer run event, which utilises venues across the County, with very many concerts, workshops and other community events.

We wish everyone taking part a most wonderful weekend of musical mirth and immersion, dance, friendship and general lightsomeness!

Here at J. W. Gray & Co. we are very proud to play our part in setting up bars, assisting in providing sponsorship and stocking venues.

All set up and good to go, nae sleep till Monday!

Yikes… just over a week to go!

It’s always a pleasure to be involved in, to supply and support the Shetland Folk Festival. Once again this year we are doing so in conjunction with our friends at Tennent's Lager who are supporting the club bars. Festival hint: check Outcider out! Yummy!

We took a quick look and if you live near Mid Yell Hall, Ollaberry Hall, Aith Hall or Whiteness and Weisdale Hall there a few scraps of tickets available for concerts there and the line-ups look fantastic so it'll be a classic night oot! Also, a few tickets for a small selection of town concerts and events.

Shanky's Whip meets cherry and chocolate in this Valentine’s-ready martini. 🩷

Shanky's Chocolate Cherry Martini:
- 2 oz Shanky’s Whip
- 1 oz cherry liqueur
- 0.5oz cream
- Chocolate syrup

Begin by drizzling chocolate syrup into a chilled martini glass. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the Shanky’s Whip, Cherry Liqueur, and cream to the shaker. Shake vigorously until chilled and mixed. Pour contents of shaker into the martini glass. Place 3 Maraschino Cherries on a skewer and use as a garnish

A peerie heads-up for businesses that operate on Commercial Street.

On Up Helly Aa day the entire length of Commercial Street from Church Road to the foot of Harbour Street will be closed to all traffic between 7.30am and 4pm.

Obviously, we will be unable to deliver on the Street that day so we strongly advise customers to prepare ahead and have orders into us for delivery on Monday in good time.

The build up continues 🔥🔥

Our business arrangements are straightforward next week – all as per normal other than the warehouse being closed to walk-in customers on Wednesday.

To assist with slightly reduced staff numbers on Wednesday it would be appreciated and extremely helpful if customers could order on Tuesday rather than Wednesday and if at all on Wednesday by email.

We hope all involved, volunteering and taking part have a marvelous Up Helly Aa!!
