Why haven’t I made dehydrated risotto before? A meal for activities that deserve a carb bomb! This was inspired by a glut of sage we have growing at home. Behold butternut squash and sage risotto. Easy to prep too. Recipe coming soon to the blog / Substack.

So one of the perks of being an Open University lecturer is I get to take courses for free! I’m finally at a stage with my earth science degree that I get to do field work. Out of my comfort zone (as a data desk nerd). But had fun today studying the local Clachtoll unconformity as part of my final project for this year. Next to see if my measurements of sandstone clasks back up the usual science behind the depositional environment of the area - or if my field study skills need work. 😂 At least I had these great callipers. Thanks !

Thermos recently recalled the lids from their King Food Flasks (something about reports of explosive soup incidents!). The new lids have a pressure release valve. Anyway, you can contact Thermos for a replacement lid. Though they sent me all new flasks which was a nice surprise! Thank you .

A warm up for our “Wild Weekend” on 16-17 May (two days of peer-led learning, fun and camping in the hills around Inchnadamph - there’s just one space left if any of my fellow MTA members are keen —> https://mt.tahdah.me/event/detail/1355601). Here’s a few scenes from last weekend with Mark, Aileen and Charlie, camping out on Fionn Loch below Suilven in some superb weather before the clouds and winds blew in. Most folks approach Suilven from Glencanisp but this route from Inverkirkaig turned out some of the best views I’ve seen of the area.
