Sometimes when I say I need a break, what I actually mean is I need to be left alone with some ingredients and an idea.

This time I’m testing the harissa for my Kebab Night recipe kit.

Then I invite the girls round for kebab night, everyone mucks in, someone else can do the dishes… and I get to work out what needs tweaking until the recipe is nailed.

My kind of R&D.

Follow see what we made, get the recipe - and the Kebab Night Bundle will be live soon. 🌶️

The busy season starts here…

There’s something about the end of August that always feels like the beginning rather than the end.

Summer is still hanging on, but behind the scenes I’m heading back into the kitchen, building up batches and getting Peak & The Pantry ready for the busiest few months of the year.

Because amongst all the brilliant things I find for the pantry, we make our own things too.

Chuckleberry Jam, Scotch Bonnet Chilli Jam, Pineapple & Chilli Relish and our recipe kits / made in small batches for good breakfasts, easy dinners, cheese boards, hosting and everything in between.

But Peak & The Pantry was never meant to be just our own products.

I love finding independent brands that complement what we make - and, vice versa, making things that sit brilliantly alongside theirs. It’s all part of building one really good pantry.

And next week, new products start landing. 👀

Stay tuned to see what’s joining the pantry - or have a nose around what’s already there via the link in bio.

I don’t run like I did back then.

And I don’t mean literally. 😂

Morning.
Granola, yoghurt and fruit. Work. Iced coffee. Trying to start the day with something rather than running straight into it.

Midday.
Usually a pantry raid. Today: black beans on toast with fermented chillies. Quick, really good and made from what’s already there.

Evening.
Leftover lamb from the day before. I’m a big believer in forward-thinking when I cook - roast a bigger piece of meat or extra vegetables and you’ve already got a head start on tomorrow’s dinner.

Then a glass of wine. A sunset. A few minutes to stop.

I’m learning that making life easier isn’t always about doing less.

Sometimes it’s just thinking one meal ahead and carving out the little moments where you can.

Follow for real-life meals, pantry raids and making good food fit into busy days.

The summer holidays might have put normal service slightly on hold, but behind the scenes it’s been anything but quiet.

A whole new website in the making.

I’ve been making, testing, labelling, finding brilliant new things for the pantry and generally trying to get everything ready for what comes next.

And now September is nearly here… and we’re going full on.

🌶️ 13 September — Chilli Fest
🛍️ 20 September — Flea
📸 Plus a rather important photoshoot squeezed in between.

There are new products coming, new producers to introduce you to and lots more happening with Peak & The Pantry.

So yes, I may be slightly hiding until September arrives. 😂

Then we’re off.

Right September… let’s see what you’ve got.

Follow along there’s a lot coming.

What Dolly said. ❤️

“If you spend your time worrying about the bees, you’re never going to taste the honey.”

And I think I needed to hear that.

Yes, I’m busy. Yes, I’m overwhelmed. Yes, there’s a list as long as my arm of things I need to make, fix, organise and somehow get done.

But amongst all of that, there’s a lot of honey too.

A business I built. Food I love making. New ideas. Markets. People I’ve met. Places I get to go. And things I once hoped I’d get the chance to do.

Sometimes you have to stop worrying about the bees long enough to notice the honey. ❤️

Not just for her music, but her impeccable taste in potatoes. 🤍🥔 Dolly

Too tired to cook?

Fish finger tacos 🌮

Fish fingers - or whatever fish you’ve got - in the air fryer, warm tortillas, mushy peas, a good dollop of jalapeño tartare sauce and tortilla chips for crunch.

Basically fish, chips & mushy peas… in a taco.

Ridiculously easy. Properly good. And exactly the sort of dinner I make when I can’t be bothered to cook.

Save this for one of those nights - and follow for more easy dinner ideas.
