The moment on a curve where the direction of change changes.

Not a peak. Not a collapse.

Just the point where something that was bending one way starts bending another.

It’s subtle.

If you weren’t looking for it you’d miss it.

Mathematicians use it to predict where systems change behaviour.

Where momentum shifts.

Where what was true stops being true.

Most people hit one in their 40s.

Not a crisis. Not a breakdown.

Just a quiet morning where you pick something up and think — wait. Why have I never questioned this?
For a lot of people that moment happens in the snack aisle.

You read a label you’ve read a hundred times before. And this time something lands differently. Sunflower oil. Rapeseed oil. Emulsifiers. Stabilisers. In a crisp.
You put it back.

That’s the inflection point.

The moment the curve changes direction.

After that you can’t go back to before it.

SINA was made for after.

Organic potato. Coconut oil. Salt.

Three ingredients. Because that’s all a crisp has ever needed.

here’s why I let my toddler eat crisps every day:

most mums I know feel guilty about every snack.

the biscuits, the pouches, the cereal bars dressed up as health food. there’s this constant low-level anxiety about what you’re putting in their bodies and whether you’re doing enough and whether ā€œjust this onceā€ is becoming every day.

I used to feel that way too.

then I stopped panicking about the category and started reading the label.

and here’s what I found on most crisp packets:

āœ— rapeseed oil or sunflower oil (oxidises at high heat, quietly inflammatory, in absolutely everything)

āœ— maltodextrin

āœ— yeast extract

āœ— ā€œflavouringā€ (a legal black hole that can mean almost anything)

āœ— emulsifiers

āœ— anticaking agents

these aren’t snacks. they’re chemistry experiments in a foil bag.

and we hand them to toddlers daily because the packet is friendly colours and says ā€œno artificial additivesā€ in small green text.

but then some crisps have:

āœ“ organic potato
āœ“ coconut oil
āœ“ salt

that’s it. I’ve made them.

three ingredients. nothing synthetic.

cooked in a stable fat that doesn’t oxidise and doesn’t wreck itself in the fryer.

my toddler eats them every single day and I feel nothing but fine about it.

because the problem was never crisps. it was what they were putting in them.

read the label. it takes ten seconds. and once you start you cannot stop.
