Last night we brought together leaders from across the Houston & Hawkes business for our second annual B Corp gathering, an evening dedicated to exploring what it really means to run a better business.
Being a B Corp isn’t a badge for the website. It’s a commitment to how we operate every day. The decisions we make, the partners we work with and the impact we have across people, planet and communities.
Hosted at one of our London locations, the evening brought our teams together to bring these values to life across the business.
We kicked things off with a conversation around why B Corp matters to Houston & Hawkes, our recertification journey and the work underway across the business, including our first full organisational carbon footprint and the ongoing challenge of tackling Scope 3 emissions across the supply chain.
From there, the focus turned to the people behind the supply chain, hearing directly from our ethical tea partner Nemi and discussing the realities of running a social enterprise.
Of course, no Houston & Hawkes event would be complete without great food and drink.
Our chefs created a B Corp bowl menu celebrating responsible sourcing, including:
• Lake District Farmers net zero braised beef shin with saffron polenta
• Chalk Stream trout with sesame furikake and Asian slaw
• Rose harissa aubergine with ezme hummus, grains and Sharpham Ticklemore goats cheese
• Origin Coffee tiramisu
We rounded off the evening with our team workshops, where chefs, managers and support teams tackled real challenges around food waste across our sites. Practical ideas, honest conversations and a few concepts we’re already looking to pilot.
A huge thank you to our partners Belazu, Lake District Farmers, Vegetarian Express, Origin Coffee, Ellis Wines, Nemi and Yes Chef, and to our brilliant teams who continue to push this work forward every day.
Because for us, B Corp is simple. It’s about balancing people, planet and profit and making better decisions together. 🌍
