If you needed any proof of how much people love beer… someone’s literally built a bunker and made sure it’s stocked with it 😅

Not just the essentials, not just food and supplies… beer made the list! And to be fair, if you’re going to be stuck underground for any amount of time, you’d probably want a decent pint to go with it.

Jokes aside, it does say a lot about how much beer is part of everyday life. It’s not just something you grab on a night out, it’s tied into how we relax, socialise, and make the most of whatever situation we’re in.

Did you know the average price of a pint in the UK is now around £5.23, up from £4.80 just last year?

A lot is going on behind the scenes driving this, and with rising energy costs, higher production and transport costs, and ongoing pressure across the hospitality industry, it's all starting to feed through to the bar.

For pubs and breweries, especially independents, it’s a tough balance. Costs are going up, but so is the pressure to keep things affordable for customers.

If you’re looking for a team day that isn’t the usual lunch or meeting room setup, a corporate brewing day is a good way to do something different... 🍻

You’ll spend time in the brewery learning how a beer comes together, getting hands-on with the process, and (importantly) tasting along the way. It’s relaxed, a bit interactive, and usually gets people chatting in a way that feels more natural than a typical team event.

It’s also one of those days where everyone leaves knowing a bit more than when they arrived… and having a few opinions about beer they didn’t expect.

Did you know alcohol-free beer has now been added to the UK’s official inflation basket?

That basically means it’s become such a regular part of people’s shopping habits that it’s now used to measure how the cost of living is changing.

It says a lot about where things are heading that more people are choosing low and no alcohol options, not just occasionally, but as part of everyday life. It’s not a niche anymore, it’s properly mainstream!

What’s interesting as well is that prices for alcohol-free beer are actually rising faster than some alcoholic options, which shows just how much demand has grown.

There’s been a lot of conversation in the beer world recently about breweries facing difficult decisions as the industry continues to change.

Rising costs, shifts in consumer habits and pressure across the hospitality sector are making things challenging for many brewers. For some, that means scaling back production or closing sites that have been part of local brewing heritage for years.

At the same time, the conversation also highlights how much people care about independent brewing, regional character and keeping local beer culture alive. The passion from drinkers, brewers and communities shows just how important beer still is to the places it comes from. 👏🏻

Our taproom is the place where people can try beers exactly as they’re meant to be enjoyed, fresh from the source... 🍻

Some of our guests know exactly what they’re after, and others just ask what’s pouring and start there. Either way, it usually ends up with a few tasters, a bit of conversation, and people discovering a new favourite they didn’t expect.

We’ve always wanted the taproom to feel relaxed and welcoming rather than overly serious and that's exactly what you'll get. 👏🏻

If you’re planning a visit or want to see what’s currently pouring, you can find all the details on our website: https://heyor.ca/U7yE1l

The latest figures from HMRC show alcohol duty receipts have dropped this year, even after duty rates increased again.

While the reasons aren’t entirely clear, it highlights how much the drinks landscape continues to change. Consumer habits, pricing pressures and wider economic factors are all playing a part in shaping how and where people spend their money when it comes to beer, wine and spirits.

The industry is constantly evolving, and the relationship people have with alcohol is definitely shifting alongside it! Read more into this here: https://heyor.ca/qjZlWk

Did you know the modern craft beer movement really started gaining momentum in the late 20th century?

What began as a small group of independent brewers experimenting with flavour and traditional brewing methods has grown into a global scene built on creativity, curiosity and a passion for beer.

Today, it’s one of the most exciting parts of the beer world, with thousands of independent breweries constantly pushing new ideas while still respecting the traditions that came before.
