These Scottish whisky bottles were some of our favourites in the Cask World collection: Macallan’s we’d collected over the years, each bottle with its own story, character, and price tag that shot through the roof.
They were ready for auction. And yes, years back we made the decision to sell them.
Some of our favourite bottles, gone in a single, gut-wrenching decision.
Why?
Because sometimes you have to let go of the icons - for others to drink and enjoy - to build the legends of tomorrow.
We used the auction proceeds to acquire something equally as alluring as any one of these bottles: spirit from distilleries around the world - outside Scotland. Distilleries producing good quality whisky. All building their nations whisky industry like scotland did hundreds of years ago. Distilleries that more and more of us are starting to become aware of, quietly maturing in warehouses scattered across continents.
At the time, it felt like parting with a piece of our soul. But looking back now, we’re glad we made the call and hope the bottles were enjoyed..
With Scottish whisky prices levelling off and the secondary market cooling post-Covid, it proved the right time to sell and a reminder that true value is in collecting history and creating it.
Today, we’re proud to own maturing whisky casks all over the world. A living collection that represents not just investment but the future, patience, and adventure.
The next chapter of whisky isn’t in an auction for us…it’s in the bottles created from whisky in casks quietly resting on every corner of the planet. 🌍🥃
