💡 A gala dinner for Ukrainian Independence Day, hosted at one of Scotland’s most exciting restaurants?
Count me in!

📝 On August 26 Duthchas in Edinburgh is doing something properly special: a 6-course menu that fuses Ukrainian classics with Scottish ingredients, plus canapés and welcome drinks from 7pm
£95 for the tasting menu, or go all in at £150 for a wine pairing featuring actual Ukrainian wines & beers.

🎤 Hosted by chef Alexander Macdonald and the team from Ukrainian Wine Company UK, who’ll talk you through the wineries and the history behind them.

This is Artania wine bar in the heart of Kyiv’s Podil district, known for championing Ukrainian wines exclusively. ❤️‍🩹

On May 24th 2026, a drone and missile attack left like this... Shattered glass where wine glasses once stood. Broken windows taped together with whatever was to hand.

A piece of the destroyed drone found right on their doorstep.

And one week later, on Kyiv’s 1,544th birthday, Artania doors are open . Wines poured. Glasses raised. Because that is what Ukraine does.💪♾️

I’m sorry if this doesn’t fit into your perfect Sunday. BUT We have, or should I say Must, share stories like this one. Not because they are easy to look at, but because this is the everyday reality of Ukrainian life and Ukrainian wine cultur right now.

These are real people, real places, real resilience.
