Paris Rhum Fest weekend

A little look at the Rhum‑based treasures we brought home from Paris Rhum Fest last week — and yes, we absolutely did some shopping before we even stepped through the festival doors.

First stop:

We couldn’t resist grabbing some Rhum Bielle, Habitation Bellevue, a pair of Ti’ Punch glasses, and a bag of proper Guadeloupean canne sugar.
And that big box at the back?
Yes… that’s a large box of Rhum Bielle 59. No regrets.

Then over to:

We picked up their exclusive Longueteau single‑cane, single‑parcel bottling — Canne Rouge from Parcelle No9 for the detail‑hungry among you. It’s every bit as delicious as it sounds.

We also added a classic Longueteau 50% to the lineup because… balance.

Safe to say there are plenty of Ti’ Punches in our future! 😎

At the itself, we kept the momentum going:

🔸 chocolates from Martinique — dangerously good 😋
🔸A absolute standout pour from with their Distillerie Du Galion - Grand Aróme
🔸And a very special sample from that left a serious impression!

Paris, you treated us well. Until next time 🥃😎

💥 Ti’ Punch 💥

The purest way to enjoy a Rhum Agricole Blanc has to be this iconic mix of rhum, lime and sugar.
Go light on the lime, light on the sugar, be generous with the rhum — and you get something fresh, crisp, and brutally honest about whether the spirit is up to scratch.

from is a newer label from one of Guadeloupe’s most iconic producers, created to be more accessible to a younger crowd. Both the flavour profile and the brand design lean into that easygoing beach vibe, positioning it as the go‑to rhum for the scene. After spending time in Guadeloupe ourselves, we can confidently say it’s hitting the mark.

And yes — it makes a seriously impressive Ti’ Punch 😎

From London to Guadeloupe, our journey with rum keeps opening doors we never expected. Our recent trip was full of incredible, Rhum‑filled adventures — and none stood out more than our time at the Caribbean Rum & Food Festival.

delivered great vibes, great weather, and great Rhum. It was probably the most chilled-out rum festival we’ve ever attended: time to explore properly, plenty of food options, quiet spots to unwind, and even a swimming pool with inflatable flamingos. What’s not to love? All set against an idyllic ocean backdrop.

It was amazing to see so many Guadeloupean Rhum brands represented — some completely new to us, all showcasing the craft and character that make agricole what it is. Nothing disappointed; most pours were genuinely outstanding.

Being part of the festival was a chance to celebrate the producers, the culture, and the island that shapes this spirit. Grateful for every conversation, every pour, and every connection. This one will stay with us.

UK Rumfest 2025 HIGHLIGHTS
Another one of the rums that was both the talk of the show but also eagerly anticipated in advance was the latest releases from Mount Gay Rum.
SINGLE ESTATE SERIES sees this 03 release being the first unaged offering using a single harvest, 2024, from the Mount Gay Estate distilled on the 2019 recommissioned Coffey Still.
This has a fresh, vibrant, grassy nose with lovely grapefruit, citrus notes included on the palate and a constant creamy feel throughout. There is some nice subtle notes of butterscotch and brown sugar on the back palate and into the finish.
Of the Single Estate Series to date this is probably the most interesting because it completely highlights what the still and distillery can produce before the use of barrel aging.
If you like unaged rum, you will love this and if your not generally a fan of unaged rum you may still be surprised and find this very interesting.

UK Rumfest 2025 HIGHLIGHTS
The team on the LMB stand had an outstanding selection on rhums at this year's event, especially the range!
This was quite possibly our favourite stand of the weekend with both great rhums and great people on show.
This years offerings gave us the opportunity to sample different cane varieties, still usage, age maturation, barrel casks and even sugarcane harvested in different seasons 🤯
Saint James L'essential is a blend of 3 vintages '98, '00, '03 aged for at least 12 years ex-bourbon barrel, presented at a delicate 43% abv and showcased in this very sleek looking bottle. Due to the careful maturation we feel plenty of coffee, chocolate and toffee notes together with the dark fruit, spice and herbaceous flavours that we love about Saint James aged rhums... Chef's kiss 🤌
A very tasty tipple and one that needs nothing more that a suitable glass and a comfortable space to sit back and enjoy.

UK Rumfest 2025 HIGHLIGHTS
Another standout from was the third aged release from .
The 2021 edition is again a 3yo 100% Pot Still rum made from cane syrup that's aged in ex-caroni, ex-bourbon, ex-providence casks and presented at 52%abv.
Of the three 3yo aged vintage releases we found this to be the most approachable with a nice creamy, warming mouthfeel and lovely cooked fruits (pineapple, pear, banana) married together with barrel spices and vanilla notes.
We have enjoyed the evolution of the 3yo releases, so whilst we will enjoy this one, we are also intrigued for the future.

UK Rumfest 2025 HIGHLIGHTS
The yet to be released 15yo rum was a absolute winner over the rumfest weekend!
This 100% Pot Still LROK marque, 15 year topically aged rum was so characterful and enjoyable that it was one of the rums that creating a buzz amongst fellow rumheads at the show. "Have you tried the Hampden 15??" was said to us and we said to others far too many times to remember!
The LROK marque is not on the really high ester count that Hampden does produce, but it is by no means low in esters and really does provide a flavour bomb of heavy pineapple, banana, sugar cane and a smokiness that is delightful. This long aged offering retains all of these flavours but dials down the intensity and gives it a calmer, friendlier feel with more honey, wood spice and creaminess being more present.
Hampden Estate continue to produce amazing rums 😍

UK Rumfest 2025 HIGHLIGHTS
A little rundown of some of the rums that caught the eye last weekend and obviously the ones we remembered to take pictures of 😬
The latest offerings from never fail to disappoint and offer rums that are exceptional as standard, which is perhaps sometimes taken for granted.
The newest of the ECS range - Mandamus - is a ex-bourbon and ex-port cask blend, aged a minimum of 16 years and comes in a hearty 57%abv. From memory this is a lot more peppery, spicy and fiery on the palate than previous ex-port editions. Definitely warming for the cold months ahead and perfect for a late night tipple.
The exclusive - Redolent - is ex-bourbon and ex-black muscat cask blend, aged a minimum of 14 years and is presented at a hefty 62%abv. We both thought this was STUNNING! the high abv is very discreet with a velvety mouthfeel, lots of dark and dried fruit notes integrated with nut and long oak aged flavours to produce something quite delightful.
Both are well worth picking up in the not too distant future.

We have a new favourite spirit combination for a unbelievably good daiquiri... and was perfect in this mix.
CLASSIC DAIQUIRI
🔸️30ml - Hoolie
🔸️30ml - Communal
🔸️30ml - Lime Juice
🔸️22.5ml - Sugar Syrup
🔹️Add all ingredients to shaker with plenty of ice and shake throughly, then double strain into chilled serving glass.
Compared to our usual specs we did increase both the sugar and lime juice a little bit. Given that the rum and clairin are both very flavoursome and pack a punch we thought it would balance it out a touch better and boy did it ever!
We feel the fact that though high in flavour they both come in at low 40's abv and that was probably a lot easier to balance also!
Highly recommend given this a go!
NB - These limes were also very fresh and juicy.
