Square Root was founded in 2012 by partners Ed Taylor and Robyn Simms who met in 2009 during their time at UCL. We make our juices in-house from seasonal ingredients, to create extraordinary drinks with guaranteed quality and zero artificial additives. Every Square Root drink is made by us, from fruit to bottle, with no shortcuts, no additives and no compromises. Our core range of sodas include Le

monade, Ginger Beer and Cola. We also make a range of seasonal sodas, released in line with the farming seasons. These include: Citrus Crush, Mandarin, Rhubarb, Cucumber, Strawberry, Elderflower, Raspberry, Blackcurrant, Apple, Pear & Aronia and Bergamot. In December 2018 we released our first Non-Alcoholic RTD Cocktail - A G&T steam distilled using botanicals including juniper, cubeb pepper, cardamom, liquorice, angelica, coriander and Persian dried lime. In October 2019 we added a Non-Alcoholic Negroni - made with fresh fruit and gently infused spices - to our permanent line up. In October 2020, we partnered with Sober Activist and writer Millie Gooch to launch the UK’s first ‘crowdsourced’ alcohol-free cocktail – The Non-Alcoholic Mojito. In addition to our Core Range, Seasonal Sodas and Non-Alcoholic RTD cocktails, we also produce a range of tonics including a Hop Tonic and an Artemisia Tonic.

Our Story

In 2012 Ed and Robyn started making Square Root Sodas, selling them at a local farmer's market. With the help of a 1920s delivery Tricycle, Elsie, and our pedalling legs, Square Root Sodas took London by storm, so the next logical step was to open up Square Root Soda Works, in a railway arch in Hackney. A few short, tough but fun years later, we proudly won the 2015 BBC Food & Farming "Best Drinks Producer" award, and now we've expanded to our new East London Soda Works, just down the road from where we started. With an ever-changing range of seasonal flavours and special non-alcoholic craft beer shandies, plus some classics and tonic waters, Square Root Sodas truly are unique. We make everything ourselves, and strive to get the most out of top quality ingredients, with no compromises, no short cuts, and no funny stuff.
