Delighted to welcome Tatiana from the Bibi Graetz estate and Matt to the Honest Grapes office today for a tasting of the new vintages of Testamatta and Colore. Stunning doesn’t even begin to cover it: pure, elegant Sangiovese from tiny yields, showing why these wines are so sought-after.

A treat in the office today as we welcomed Charlie Matthews from for a tasting of the new releases
Both the 2022 Opus One and Overture are showing beautifully – perfumed, poised, and wonderfully balanced, with refined tannic structure. 2022 looks set to be an earlier-drinking vintage of Opus, but no less captivating.

For our latest BYO dinner, we are pleased to welcome Santiago Marone Cinzano as he prepares to launch Conti Marone Cinzano in Montalcino with a bold new approach to this historical region. A 10th-generation producer from one of Italy’s most storied wine dynasties, his family has owned Col d’Orcia since 1973 and Argiano until 2013.

Join us for dinner with Santiago to try his groundbreaking new wine, at the recently-opened Templeton Gardens, which The Sunday Times has called “a paradise in West London”, with a “European flair to the delicately presented plates”, and awarded a 9/10 new opening rating.

It’s always a big moment when Valdicava releases their Brunello, and this year, it’s something truly special.

The legendary 100-point Madonna del Piano Riserva 2019 has landed, one of the most anticipated Brunellos in years. And alongside it, the stunning 2020 Brunello arrives with a very welcome 30% price drop - despite production being down and quality way, way up (100% Montosoli fruit included 👀).

Join us in July at Brunswick House for an intimate “Finding Value on the Right Bank” BYO dinner with special guest David Suire, Director of Château Laroque in Saint-Émilion. The estate originated in 12th Century but its famous château, one of the region’s most magnificent, dates back to the 1600s. Few right bank properties have witnessed such an impressive modern renaissance, with recent vintages increasingly lauded by major critics, with scores up to 97 points and comments (“superb”, “terrific”, “outstanding”, “shades its peers”, “one to look out for”) that belie its modest price. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy wines from one of the most talked about Bordeaux château with the man who made it happen, whilst also sharing bottles from other member’s cellars which have their own story to tell.

A real treat this week as Simone Furlong from Leeuwin Estate dropped by the Honest Grapes office to guide us through a tasting of the iconic Art Series wines from Margaret River ahead of the new releases launch on the 8th May.

Off to a great start with the Riesling - the first grape they planted - and then fascinating to compare the Prelude and Art Series Chardonnay – the former fresh and forward, the latter more textured, with impressive length and serious aging potential. Then on to the 2019 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon (absolutely stunning), and the beautifully perfumed 2020 Shiraz – which, as Simone shared, was memorably (and effectively) paired with tuna by a sommelier at a dinner in Japan!

Leeuwin is one of Australia’s most celebrated estates, and it was fascinating to hear how it all began – with Robert Mondavi originally wanting to buy the land, before coming on board as a consultant instead. Even more impressive, it’s still very much a family affair today.

Thanks to Simone for such a special visit – and for sharing the stories (and wines!) behind one of the world’s great family-run wineries. 🍷🇦🇺
