ICAHD UK was back with a stall at the Greenbelt Festival, and it was terrific! Thankfully, this year there were more seminars about Palestine, and the genocide was named as was the call for BDS that came from the four Palestinians who were part of the programme. This meant we were very busy on our stall and we loved providing our resources to help equip people to campaign for Palestine liberation.
We had a great team of volunteers who welcomed punters with coffee, in true Palestinian style, as they were invited to visit our stall.
Even though there was heavy rain on Saturday, the positive Greenbelt spirit prevailed. We were reminded that as Dolly said, if you want the rainbow you gotta put up with the rain.

DEMOLITION UPDATES: On 25 August 2026, the Israeli Civil Administration accompanied by Israeli forces demolished two animal shelters in Area C of Al Jiftlik–Abu al ‘Ajaj, Jericho, citing the lack of Israeli-issued building permits. As a result, one household comprising two individuals was affected. The structures were used seasonally by an extended family. According to the family, the demolition was carried out without them receiving any stop-work or demolition orders. In addition, Israeli forces targeted the area twice during June 2026, damaging construction materials belonging to the family, including metal sheets and other scrap materials, and threatened the family to uproot palm trees planted in the area.

On 27 August 2026, the Israeli Civil Administration accompanied by Israeli forces demolished a car-painting workshop in Area C of Dura al Qar’a, Ramallah, citing the lack of Israeli-issued building permit. As a result, a household comprising nine people, including four children, was affected. Equipment, materials and other items inside the facility were also destroyed during the demolition. According to the affected household, a stop-work order was issued approximately one year ago, and the family was forced to dismantle parts of the facility several months ago. The family appointed a lawyer to follow up on the case; however, the demolition was carried out without the family having received a final demolition order.

DEMOLITION UPDATES: On 20 August 2026, the Israeli Civil Administration, accompanied by Israeli forces demolished multiple livelihood-related facilities in the village of Kafr Sur, south of Tulkarm. The targeted property consisted of a 100 sm poultry farm, a greenhouse, and a shed. During the demolition operation, Israeli forces also vandalized two olive trees located on the property. According to the owner, a demolition order had been issued approximately one week prior to the incident. A final demolition order was subsequently issued for the facility, excluding the greenhouse. The demolition was reportedly carried out with no prior notice. Furthermore, Israeli forces reportedly gave the owner only 15 minutes to remove personal belongings and equipment from the site before proceeding with the demolition. A family of five was directly affected by the demolition.

On 20 Aug 2026, Israeli forces accompanied by the Israeli Civil Administration (ICA), demolished an agricultural structure and a water cistern in the Ras Al Awar and Khalet Al Furn communities near Hebron, allegedly due to construction without a permit in Area C. As a result, two families comprising 11 people, including four children, were affected.

DEMOLITION UPDATES: Two Israeli inspectors use their pickup truck to demolish houses and then proceed to hack down olive trees by hand in the Naqab desert

Last Thursday, 20 August 2026, residents from the unrecognized Bedouin village of Abda in the Naqab desert reported that two Israeli inspectors arrived in the village and carried out a "guerrilla operation": they hitched a pickup truck to two small huts and demolished them by towing them. They then proceeded to cut down and uproot olive trees.

"Without warning, inspectors arrive in a four-by-four pickup truck, start cutting down and uprooting 8-10 trees," said one resident. "They tie houses to cars and tow them. They replaced the tractor with belts. One takes off a belt, two tie them up, and start towing."

According to the resident, demolishing houses in this way is illegal. "Usually they demolish according to the law. The police have to come, you need a court order, the administration is involved. Not like that with a pickup truck and a belt. It's dangerous and puts them in danger too."

The resident added that these inspectors have been harassing the village residents almost every day in recent weeks, but what they did today is a step up.

Rashid speaks about what is happening to the farmers in Area C and a clip is shown of armed settlers who spill precious water from their tanks. The EU must ban all settlement products and the UK has special responsibility for doing so. Send this clip to your political representative.

Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank say Israeli settlements are taking their land and water. Meanwhile, settlement produce continues to reach British and European markets.

DEMOLITION UPDATES: On 19 August 2026, the Jerusalem municipality accompanied by Israeli forces demolished a two-story residential building in Beit Hanina, East Jerusalem, citing the lack of an Israeli-issued building permit. As a result, three refugee households comprising 10 people, including four children, were displaced and lost most of their personal belongings under the demolition rubble. The demolition also destroyed the yard which was surrounded by a concrete wall along with ornamental trees and paved with cement tiles. Additionally, Israeli forces prevented the family from retrieving most of their belongings before the demolition, resulting in furniture, food supplies and other personal belongings being destroyed under the rubble. According to the affected family, the building received a stop work order directly upon its construction 20 years ago. They subsequently appointed a lawyer to follow up on the case and pursue a building permit. According to the family, the court hearing was scheduled yesterday; however, the demolition was carried out without the issuance of a final demolition order and without any prior notice. The three households were left without shelter and lost most of their household belongings.

On 19 August 2026, a Palestinian family was forced to self-demolish a residential structure in At Tur, East Jerusalem, citing the lack of Israeli-issued building permit. As a result, one person is affected. The demolition targeted an under construction apartment that was ready to be inhabited. According to the affected family, they received a demolition order a week ago. They appointed a lawyer to follow up on the case. However, due to rejections at court, the family started to self-demolish.
