🍯 Our Char Siu changes with the seasons 🍯

𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 #𝟭 is made with honey harvested from 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 pub in mid August this year.

Harvested by the brilliant Eric Beaumont at who we met at . Eric manages fifty colonies of honey bees in London and Essex locally but an astonishing Two Hundred across the whole of the South East.

This glaze gives a deep, rich flavour, perfect for a cold winter's friends and family dinner.

Product-Testing Take 23: The Saucy Uncle Char Siu Experience—Tasting Notes

𝗦𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹: ‘Smell that...’ (Subject's pupils dilated as if hit by the fragrance of a thousand BBQ angels. Truly a transformative moment. We had to remind them to breathe.)

𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲: ‘I want more.’—This was repeated 12 times. We lost count. Bold, unapologetic flavours. Complex, yet simple enough to make you question all previous life choices. It’s less of a dish, more of a life event.

𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗲-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: ‘It’s never too much.’—The sauce flowed like a river of umami dreams. If this was a wine, we'd call it 'saucy with notes of decadence and unrelenting joy.' Seriously, no survivors (just empty plates).

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲?
‘Make more rice.’—The only problem? Not enough carbs to support the saucy onslaught. Consider this a 5-star problem.

The Saucy Uncle team cooking .kitchen

Kelvin is the face of SA, and a saucy legend. He is smug because his char siu could make grown adults cry happy tears. His motto? "Why settle for subtle when you can drown it in sauce?"

Then there’s Karl– kitchen wizard and produce-obsessed explorer of flavour. This guy once got emotional over an heirloom tomato. His mission? "Find the freshest, cook the best, and make sure no one leaves with a waistline."

Together, they’re serving char siu so good it’ll make you question your life decisions. Bring your appetite—and stretchy pants. 🍽️
