London's smallest public monument, The Two Mice Eating Cheese, is a quirky tribute to two construction workers who tragically fell from scaffolding in 1862 while arguing over a missing sandwich. The workers were debating a cheese sandwich when they lost their footing and fell. The crew later discovered that mice had eaten the sandwich, adding an unexpected twist to the story.

This small statue, depicting two mice fighting over a piece of cheese, is located on the exterior wall of a building on Philpot Lane, near Monument Tube station in the City of London. The building was constructed between 1861 and 1862.

The statue has become a unique and lesser-known monument, serving as a playful reminder of the unusual event that occurred nearby. It stands in a narrow alley close to Threadneedle Street and Cornhill, not far from the Bank of England.
