Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day 🥂

With sunshine and temperatures over 22°C across the UK, it’s the perfect excuse for a crisp glass.

Fresh, vibrant, and endlessly expressive—Sauvignon Blanc shines across Australia’s wine regions.

We’re celebrating with Moorilla Praxis Sauvignon Blanc—a fruit-driven style with aromas from grassy and mineral to tropical, fermented in stainless steel to preserve its fresh character. Balanced, textured, and ready to enjoy now.

Hands of a surgeon. Soul of a Burgundian. 🍷

Professor of surgery by day. Passionate winemaker by conviction. When Glyn Jamieson fell in love with French winemaking on a study trip to France in the early 90s, he didn’t just bring home some nice bottles — he went home, bought 200 acres on the Fleurieu Peninsula, and built something extraordinary.

Mosquito Hill wines are Burgundian in soul and unmistakably Australian in terroir. Decanter’s Australia Editor Julie Sheppard agreed — awarding it their 2010 Pinot 93 points and calling it a “super alternative to 2010 Burgundy, at a fraction of the price.”

With acclaimed winemaker Matt Large — formerly of Shaw & Smith and Tolpuddle Vineyard — now leading the winery, the best is very much still to come. 🇦🇺

Yesterday in the UK it was hotter than Ibiza… and many of us were completely caught out. Blossom still in bloom, sunshine blazing, and fridges nowhere near prepared.

Auld Family Riesling rose beautifully to the moment — bright, crisp, and made for warm weather.

Explore our sunshine‑ready wines at our website and stay ahead of the next warm spell.

This Valentines Day, skip the predictable and give something unforgettable.
Ed Carr the wine maker at House of Arras has crafted two incredible bottles that say celebration, sophistication, and most importantly, you’re worth it.
And the House of Arras, 2014 Blanc de Blancs showcases what a crisp Chardonnay can be turned into in the hands of a skilled winemaker. And the 2015 grand vintage, an award winning stunning vintage fizz.
Find them both on our website!

Dry January? NEVER. It’s TRY January.
I read PJs typically excellent email on Wednesday and found myself agreeing with him, that it does indeed take a lot of very admirable conviction to get through the month of January without a drink.. but then I thought to myself “Wait, I have literally never even thought about trying it.” So what have I been up to in January and why am I emailing?
Well I’ve been indulging in my own version “Try January” which does what it says on the tin, but also coincides with the En Primeur season for Burgundy which was always one of my favourite times of the year. Burgundy’s Chardonnay and Pinot noir were the first wines I really fell in love with. And each year in January the new vintage would be lined up and tasting that was always a treat.
20 years later, after plenty of gems discovered, fuzzy error purchases made and sore heads endured this will be the first year I don’t go in for it. Partly because I’m not sure 2024 is that brilliant a vintage, but mainly be cause with the perennial price increases removing any financial benefit from buying en Primeur. I think it makes better sense to wait and pick the wines up after someone else has paid to cellar them, and because there are so many great wines you can drink now!
LIke our incredible, much recognised 2010 Pinot Noir from Mosquito hill - which editor loved enough to feature back in Feb!
So don’t just wait 15 years for Pinot, buy some to cellar AND something to drink now!

A little afternoon with the always fabulous Mikey up at his utterly beautiful vineyards in the Adelaide hills. Eschewing the w**d killers and relying on the incredible natural grasses and clovers for pest and w**d control it really was a joy to spend time with Mikey and Zoe. So good he’s very much in clover up there :-)

We also tasted some utterly sensational barrel samples that Mikey is working on - Italianate styles using 4yrs in brunello style bariques - made for a very exciting day - which we’ll be sharing with you all in due course! And thanks to my great mate for joining me and sampling some wines!
