💧 There are a lot of myths about water. We're here to help make sense of them.

Does boiling make water pure?

So we're digging a little deeper, separating fact from fiction and explaining what's really happening in your water in a way that's simple, useful and honest.

Because better choices start with better information. 💧🤍

💧 MYTH: Boiling your tap water makes it pure.

Boiling water is incredibly useful, particularly because high temperatures can kill many harmful microorganisms.

But boiling and purifying aren't the same thing.

Heating water doesn't necessarily remove dissolved substances that may already be present, such as certain metals, minerals, salts and other chemical contaminants. In fact, as some of the water evaporates, dissolved substances can remain behind.

That’s where filtration is different.

Reverse osmosis works by passing water through a very fine membrane, helping to reduce a much wider range of dissolved substances and impurities rather than simply heating the water.

So yes, boil the kettle for your morning cuppa. ☕️

Just don't assume that boiling alone makes your water pure.

💧 Boiling ≠ filtration.

Save this for the next time you hear this water myth.

💧 Hard water. Soft water. Limescale. What does it all actually mean?

If you live in a hard water area, you'll probably recognise the signs, limescale around your taps, marks on your shower screen and that familiar white build-up inside the kettle.

But here's something worth knowing: hard water doesn't mean dirty water.

Water becomes "hard" because it contains higher levels of naturally occurring minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium, dissolved from rocks and soil as it travels.

And depending on where you live in the UK, the hardness of your water can vary considerably.

So what's the difference between hard and soft water? Why does limescale form? And what does filtration actually do?

We've broken it down simply. 💧
