Cooler mornings, slower brews.

Whilst we’ve already started working on the next edition in our In Her Hands series, our current release from Emma Rioja in Peru is still available, and a firm favourite in the roastery for good reason.

Last week, Bill spent the morning with the team at Mourant talking through their new coffee blend ☕️

Earlier in the process, around 30 members of the Mourant team came down to the roastery for a blind cupping session, where the final coffee was chosen purely on flavour.

The finished blend brings caramel sweetness from the washed Ethiopian, balanced out with body from the Brazil.

It’s important to us to share where your coffee really comes from.

This is Emma Rioja’s farm, La Guaba, in Perlamayo, Huabal, Peru, the first release in our In Her Hands series, celebrating women-led farming.

Emma runs the farm with her family, carefully harvesting and washing the cherries before slowly drying them to bring out a beautifully balanced cup.

Grown and processed with real care and skill.

Thanks as always to for sourcing another exceptional brew!

The first release from our In Her Hands series is now available!

Peru, Emma Rioja, from her family’s farm La Guaba in Perlamayo.

This is one we’ve been brewing a lot at the roastery lately. Clean, sweet and very easy to drink, with notes of dark chocolate, raisin and praline.

If you caught our latest video, you’ll know In Her Hands is a series we’ve been wanting to bring together for a while, highlighting coffees produced by women at origin. Women carry out much of the work in coffee production globally, but far fewer farms are actually owned or led by women.

Emma felt like a very natural place to start.

We’re pretty excited to share the first coffee from our new series, In Her Hands.

A Rock Roasters series highlighting coffees from women-led farms and female producers at origin, giving a bit more visibility to women across coffee.

Our first in the series is produced by Emma Rioja on her family farm in Peru, landing online this Friday, and already brewing with a few of our lovely stockists.

We’ve also teamed up with local illustrator on labels + postcards, which we’re quietly very proud of.

(p.s. anyone who knows Bill will know he’s an expert… just not a fan of a mic on the beach. Sorry Bill!)
