A big thank you to the people helping us get this kitchen built ❤️

After Derek became unwell following his major operation, he’s now on resting and supervising duties.
Josh, our electrician, stepped in to help—and ended up taking out cupboards, walls, the sink and even the toilet!

Josh has recently set up his own business, JEG Services, and we’re very grateful for his help. Thank you also to everyone who came to help lower and secure the unit.

There’s a lot of work behind every little bit of progress.
We’re lucky to have people willing to help us on this journey.

We've got some lovely homemade treats available to order this week, including our popular bake boxes and a couple of homemade goodies in jars!

🧁 **Afternoon Tea Bake Box – £10**

6 freshly baked scones, with a choice of flavours including fruit, plain, cheese and lemon & blueberry. Plus a little pot of our homemade lemon curd to enjoy with them!

🧀 **Savoury Pasty Box – £10**

2 homemade goats' cheese & mango chutney pasties, along with 2 delicious cheese scones. Perfect for a weekend lunch or a savoury treat.

🍋 **Homemade Lemon Curd** BACK ON !

Freshly made, deliciously tangy and lovely spread on warm scones, toast or even swirled through yoghurt.

🍅 **Homemade Green Tomato Chutney**

Made here at The Pantry, packed with flavour and perfect alongside cheese, crackers, sandwiches or a good old-fashioned ploughman's lunch.

🍎 Homemade Apple Chutney – Made with apples grown right here in our own garden and lovingly prepared in our Pantry kitchen. A delicious combination of sweet and tangy flavours, perfect with cheese, crackers, sandwiches or a lovely ploughman's lunch. A little taste of our autumn harvest in every jar! 🍂

Everything is made in small batches, so once it's gone, it's gone!

From picking an apple to putting something homemade on the table.

That’s the idea behind our Seed to Plate Learning Kitchen.

We want children and young people, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, to have opportunities to grow ingredients, prepare food and discover what they can make. Its a very sensory experience and from our experience the children absolutely love it!

Weighing flour, following a recipe, taking turns and clearing up are all useful skills. And there’s something lovely about being able to say, “I made that.”

Thanks to National Lottery players and support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we’re developing a space to bring more of these experiences to our smallholding in Trusthorpe.

🔨 The cupboards are out—and we’re starting to see our Learning Kitchen take shape!

This week we’ve been removing walls, cupboards and fittings from the old dressing rooms. There’s a growing rubbish pile outside, but inside we can finally see the space we’ll have for cooking and learning.

With support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we’re creating our Seed to Plate Learning Kitchen here at The Way of the Horse in Trusthorpe.

There’s plenty still to do. Follow along as we turn this old trailer into a place where people can learn practical skills and enjoy making food together.

The cupboards are out, the walls are coming down… and we’ve found a little more than we bargained for! 🔨

This week in our Learning Kitchen renovation, Derek started cutting the worktops, but after becoming unwell and needing an ambulance, he’s now on strict resting and supervising duties following his major operation.

A big thank you to Josh from JEG Services, our electrician, who stepped in to help pull out the cupboards, walls and fittings. We also had help getting the unit lowered and secured—and Rosie popped in to inspect our growing rubbish pile! 🐾

With support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we’re turning this old trailer into our Seed to Plate Learning Kitchen at The Way of the Horse in Trusthorpe, creating a space for cooking, learning and building confidence.

We thought we were making good progress… until I pulled back the flooring. 👀 Watch to the end, and join us next week to see what happens!
