**The Pantry**
Today, for the first time, we have been robbed.
I never thought I'd be writing those words.
As many of you know, The Pantry runs on honesty and trust. It's something we're incredibly proud of, and until today we've always believed in the kindness of our community.
This afternoon I had a few remaining items out for sale. I was in and out of the kitchen giving change to customers, and one lovely lady stopped to chat after buying some of our cheese scones.
After I did that, another person came to The Pantry and left carrying armfuls of produce. After checking the honesty box, it became clear that no payment had been made. The only money in the box was from the previous customer I had just served.
We do have a photograph of the individual concerned. We have 2 cameras and the car involved and 2 people getting in and out the car.
This isn't just about the value of the food. Every loaf, cake and bake is homemade, and every item represents time, effort and care. It's incredibly disappointing to see someone take advantage of a small, trust-based business in this way.
If the person involved sees this, I would simply ask that you do the right thing and return to pay for what you took. No questions asked. If I dont have that person get in touch within 24 hours , the car and the close ups will go out on my socials!
To everyone else who continues to support The Pantry with honesty and kindness, thank you. You are the reason we have been able to keep this little honesty pantry going, and we truly appreciate every one of you.
Needless to say tonight im very upset and sad!
