Formed in 2012, the Larchwood herd comprises 160 pedigree cows and 220 followers, averaging 11,585kgs on twice a day milking with over 50% heifers and a rolling SCC of 102. Animal welfare is at the heart of what we do - we are an RSPCA accredited farm, our annual antibiotic use is 1.8mg/PCU, and we are CHeCS accredited free of Johnes & BVD, with quarterly bulk milk samples testing clear of IBR & L
eptospirosis. All females born on farm receive Ringvac vaccination and are genomic tested. The herd won Champion Herd in the Monmouthshire CIS Herds Competition in 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019, and established cow families include Lila Z, Asset, Rhapsody, Erle, Roxy, Sara, Juror Faith, Ambrosia, Jessica, August, Shower, Rudy Missy & Lavish. More recent additions include Adeen, Rae, Ghost, Promis, Savoire Fare, Flo & Brittany. We believe genetics & commercial production go hand in hand, and we are always striving to improve our herd through classification, mating decisions & investment in modern bloodlines. Bull selection, AI & heat detection is carried out in house, and all animals from 6 months of age are housed on deep sand cubicles with access to cow brushes & soya free TMR feed. Milk is produced free range with in-calf heifers and milking animals having access to grazing pasture during the summer months. Our calves are reared in a specially designed calf unit where colostrum management, cleanliness & care are prioritised above all else. We rely on a fantastic team of part-time staff who are intrinsic to the day to day management of the farm. We take pride in maintaining a clean, safe & work friendly environment at all times, and if you would like to apply to join our team, please contact us using the details shown above. Visitors are always welcome & stock is always for sale.....please drop in and say hello if you are passing our door, our Larchwood Ladies would love to see you! Jeff, Sian, Carys & Dan Jones
