Baby showers and afternoon tea - a winning combination 🍋🫖

Leafy Oak Tea Room Ltd - Hertford, Hertfordshire.

Leafy Oak is a charming venue nestled away in Hertfordshire - the perfect setting to celebrate.

The afternoon tea spread was seriously generous… all the classic sweet and savoury bites you’d hope for, but so much of it that most of us left with a very happy doggy bag 😄

Such a lovely way to celebrate a new arrival - highly recommend for your next special occasion! 🥰

Sometimes the best finds are the ones you stumble across 🌊

Boathouse Bistro – Sudbury, Suffolk.

Only opened in January and already one of my favourite discoveries of the year. Boathouse Bistro brings authentic Turkish meze, chargrilled kebabs, seafood and steaks to the heart of Sudbury and we were lucky enough to visit on one of those rare gorgeous weekends, sitting outside overlooking the lake. Honestly, the setting alone is worth the trip.

We shared an absolute feast - hummus with bread, calamari, chips and a mixed kebab with rice and salad. We always judge a restaurant by their calamari, and this was genuinely up there with the best we’ve ever had. The meats were packed with flavour, the hummus was beautifully creamy, and every single plate was cleared. Washed it all down with the creamiest piña colada too 🍹

Lovely staff, beautiful setting and food that more than delivers. We’ll absolutely be back and if you’re ever in Sudbury, don’t walk past this one.

New flavours at my favourite local spot? Had to say yes 🍗🔥

TopG Wings – Mildenhall, Suffolk.

AD | Gifted ✨

If you haven’t heard of Top G Wings yet, let me introduce you to your new obsession. This American-style chicken wing restaurant in Mildenhall and Norwich (coming to Brighton soon!) have just dropped two brand new flavours that I was invited down to try. Lucky girl 😇

First up - Gotchu-Gang, a Korean gochujang sauce with kewpie mayo. Saucy, that classic Korean depth of flavour and more heat than I was expecting but in the best possible way!
Then my winner of the day: Salt N Peppa. A classic done properly, and I am completely obsessed. Simple, punchy, perfect.

On the sides front, I was gutted the truffle fries weren’t on (I’ve been promised they’re making a comeback for autumn 👀 holding you to that!) but the garlic Parmesan fries did not disappoint. The perfect level of flavour without being overly cheesy. A very worthy substitute.

Top G Wings was named a finalist for a national Small Business Award and honestly, it’s so deserved. So proud of this local gem 🙌

Meal Delivery ✨

It’s been a busy and full-on few weeks, and this account has taken a bit of a back seat - but one thing I’ve made sure not to let slip is looking after myself, and Frive has genuinely been a lifesaver for that.

Frive is the UK’s number one rated meal prep delivery service - chef-made, never ultra-processed, made with whole ingredients only and ready to heat in under five minutes. When you’re running on empty and the last thing you want to do is cook, having a proper balanced meal ready to go in minutes is one less thing to worry about. The portion sizes are generous, the ingredients are clean, the options are brilliant and the customer service has been fab too.

Not gifted - just genuinely impressed and wanted to share.

Live fire. Juicy patties. Empty plates. Say less. 🔥

Meat & Greet BBQ – Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Pre-cinema dinner sorted before catching The Drama at Abbeygate Cinema and what a way to kick off the evening.

Meat & Greet is a live fire BBQ steakhouse and everything is cooked in front of you over the flames - the open kitchen is genuinely brilliant to watch.

We started by sharing the corn ribs and chicken wings. The corn ribs were an obsession from first bite - smoky, charred and completely addictive. The wings had the juiciest meat with a proper crunchy coating. Strong start.

For mains we both went for the Goat Burger - an elevated old school burger with two 4oz steak patties, mild cheddar and Swiss cheese, dill pickles and burger sauce. Juicy, perfectly cooked patties and not a scrap left between us. I had the sweet potato fries and Joshua went for the rosemary salted skin-on fries - delicious but could have done with a heavier hand on the rosemary! 👀

A brilliant local gem. If you’re in Bury and haven’t been yet, go. 🙌

How is this on my doorstep and I’m only just visiting?! 🫣

Montaz Newmarket – Newmarket, Suffolk.

A long overdue catch-up with a friend, and what a place to do it. Montaz combines heritage and modern cooking styles to produce creative Indian cuisine… and it absolutely delivers on that promise.

We started with the Tasting Platter for Two - methi chicken tikka, ox cheek samosa, aloo chaat, onion bhaji with poppadoms and dips. The perfect way to ease in.
For mains I went for the Chicken Handi Biryani - chicken cooked in layered Himalayan basmati rice, served with vegetable curry. Spicier than I expected but absolutely delicious, and made for a very happy lunch the next day with the leftovers 😋 My friend had the Tilapia Fish with Green Beans, pan-fried in a bhuna style sauce with rice - not too fishy, lovely meaty texture, really impressive.
We rounded it off by sharing a dessert because there was no way we were leaving without one.

The describes it as a beautiful family-run restaurant with a delicate, precise and creative approach to pan-Indian cuisine and I can absolutely see why. Brilliant food, gorgeous atmosphere, lovely staff and seriously good cocktails.

Already planning my return 🙌

Some places just never lose their magic 🫖

The Angel Hotel & Oak Room Restaurant – Abergavenny, Wales.

There’s something so special about revisiting a place that already holds memories and this time it felt even more meaningful… We returned to The Angel Hotel in Abergavenny with our friends who got married here, bringing their little one along to see the place where mummy and daddy said I do 🥹 I’m not crying, you are.

The Angel’s High Tea holds The British Tea Guild Council’s Top City and Country Afternoon Tea Award and Award of Excellence and honestly, every bite justifies it.
Freshly baked sandwiches, savouries, cakes and scones, all prepared by the hotel’s specialist bakers each morning - the kind of spread that looks almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Don’t be fooled by the delicate little portions either - it is seriously filling, we were absolutely stuffed by the end 😂

Just as delicious as we remembered. The perfect setting for a perfect afternoon 🌸

Houmous served in a gardening trowel. I mean, how boujee 🌿

The Botanist Ipswich - Ipswich, Suffolk.

Pre-Russell Howard drinks and dinner sorted - and what a way to spend an evening 🎭

We kicked off with sharing plates all round: calamari, Korean fried chicken, halloumi and that iconic houmous in a trowel (still thinking about it).
Then came the main event: The Botanist’s famous hanging kebabs. Chicken, halloumi and kofta, served with couscous and fries, dangling dramatically above the table. Empty plates, zero regrets.

The cocktails were seriously juicy too - the kind that disappear way faster than they should 😅

Always such a fun atmosphere in here, and it was brilliant to bring my sister for her first visit. She’s converted.

If you’re in Ipswich and haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for? 🌱
