You'll recognise Janey for her music (backing singer for WHAM, Boy George, Kim Wilde) and broadcasting career (especially Radio 2 with the late Steve Wright), but did you know she has been pioneer for natural health products for over twenty years too?

After writing a successful book about holistic living called Imperfectly Natural. she set up her website to promote health and wellness. Through this work she was voted No.1 personality in the “Who’s Who” in the Natural Beauty Industry Yearbook for three consecutive years. She is also the founder of The Sober Club, an online community supporting the sober-curious, and trains Sober Coaches as part of her wider work promoting wellbeing and mindful living.

Many people we speak to don't realise there's a huge difference between Cacao & Cocoa. If you are bothered about eating healthy foods, then yes it matters!

Cacao & cocoa start off from the same tree, but the end products are totally different.

Raw cacao is minimally processed, keeping all its incredible nutrients intact, such as antioxidants, enzymes, minerals such as magnesium.

Cocoa and most commercial chocolate is made from cacao beans that have been roasted at high temperatures and may also have been alkalised. This ultra processing changes its chemical structure and strips it of much of its goodness.

At Meraki Cacao, we start with raw Peruvian cacao nibs. They are grown organically, using an agroforestry system, by small community groups. This sustainable land management system minimises environmental impact on the forests, compared to the intensive cacao plantations common in places such as West Africa. Intensive cacao farming uses lots of chemicals such as fertilisers and causes huge amounts of deforestation.

We then stone grind our incredible cacao nibs slowly to preserve as much of their natural magic as possible.
