Black Isle Berries is a family run business growing a range of seasonal soft fruit and vegetables, which are sold within a small shop on the farm. During the summer we have ready-picked or pick-your-own strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants and gooseberries. We also produce apples, plums, damsons and greengages. Fancy a wee charcuterie board over the holiday weekend? We have recently delivered our charcuterie to Druid Temple Farm , Corner on the Square and Dornoch Stores and will be taking this little lot to Black Isle Berries tomorrow morning.
Last night was spent dehydrating lots of lovely fruit ready for upcoming events! π₯°ππππππ

After exploring Loch Ness and Glen Affric, we officially started the NC500 π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ The abundance of waterfalls, fairy glens and lochs in Easter Ross and the Black Isle provided us with countless adventures, washed down every evening with awesome beers from Black Isle Brewery π€

Thank you for providing me with some excellent vegetables to make my Giardiniera - carrots, celery, cauliflower and green, red, and yellow peppers in a sweet and sour pickling liquid. Ready to eat in a couple of weeks with cold cuts and cheese. Go Italian in Scotland!

And you have a right to wonder, "is this chap full of hot air, or does he put his money where our mouth is?"
So, thought I'd share with you a typical shopping list for our week.
Our beef comes from the butcher 4 doors down from us, Munro Butcher - Butchers and Wholesalers, where it is sourced -- when not from 2 miles up the hill on the Black Isle -- always from Scotland.
Our seafood -- with the exception of prawns -- is all from the North Sea or Irish Sea, courtesy of Campbells Prime Meat Ltd.
We're just back from Black Isle Berries, where we bought oatmeal from Golspie Mill, milk from Black Isle Dairy, eggs from Allarburn Farm Shop and biscuits from Stag Bakeries (to munch on whilst we cook). Today we'll buy cheese from Connage Highland Dairy and pick up our bespoke bread & rolls from The Bakery Inverness.
Does all this cost more than grabbing the cheapest stuff at Tesco?
Yes, but when you know the quality is better and that your neighbor is able to make a living, it's not really a decision, is it?
