Cat & Spike’s Breakfast club

Cat & Spike’s Breakfast club We love breakfast! We love it so much we have searched out some of the best places for breakfast across Staffordshire, Shropshire and the UK.

One of us is a full on meat eater and the other mostly vegan/veggie, but we both believe in good well made food.

We score our visits out of 5 and yes have specific caterories we are looking at:
- Overall staff service
- Time it takes to get our food and drinks
- Quality of the food ie homemade or off the shelf
- Mmmmmmm taste factor - if we say that alot during the meal a higher score is achieved
- Value for money
- Veggie v Meat lover options
- Wow factor - would we come back, what else was there of interest 🥰

Don’t forget - this is for our amusement and is totally subjective to our likes. However - we would love some suggestions for places to visit for a good breakfast - so recommend away xx

Another great place for a Sunday breakfast and what a fantastic venue. We stepped back in time to the 1940s in their themed cafe and listened to tunes from the Andrew Sisters and Glenn Miller. 🎵
After a massive breakfast - actually too big to finish, we wandered around the antique centre.
Loads of spaces for breakfast with 2 tearooms and outside seating. We didn’t book but it had been raining so it wasn’t too busy.
Good service (3/5), though it took quite a while to get food and our drinks (2/5) however everything was freshly cooked so actually can’t complain. Quality of the food was good (3/5), mmmmm factor ie tastiness (4/5), value for money (4/5), veggie options (3/5) and overall Wow factor (are we likely to return - defo!) (4/5) all of this giving this lovely place a 3.3 score out of 5.
Definitely recommend this one for a fabulous quirky breakfast to fill your boots 🥰

After a wonderful weekend at we needed a good breakfast to fill up on before we drove home. The closest place we found was Bradshaw's Farm Shop & Cafè in Burntwood. We always search for farm shops as they tend to have good quality products.
So though the outside of the cafe looked quite industrial the inside was nice and very busy. Obviously a popular option with locals. They managed to fit us in and we sat at the bar area mainly watching the flow of customers coming and going. They seem to do take away as well - great idea if you can’t be bothered to do a fry up yourself.
The menu was good, basic and unpretentious- offering the normal breakfast fare. Meat locally sourced and according to Spike, very tasty.
Not such a great vegan/veggie option as only used quorn (devils work) but I had the breakfast minus the quorn and it was tasty.
Overall we enjoyed breakfast, it wasn’t anything really special but it was what it advertised. No homemade beans here - which isn’t a bad thing, it was just basic and tasty.
We gave it an overall 2.5 out of 5, as food was good, environment was ok, service was good, reasonable value and the farm shop looked great. Overall yumm/ mmmmmm factor a 2.
If you want a good solid basic ‘deep fryed English breakfast’ with no frills we would recommend here.

So today’s breakfast club was spent at the lovely Thyme Kitchen near Lichfield. We haven’t finished writing our review yet but overall a lovely place, nice environment, really nice service and the food was good. Sadly (for us) we didn’t think to book and it was busy, but they managed to seat us on a table outside. It was raining today but there was cover and a visit from a lovely 7 dot ladybird.
Good choice of veggie/vegan food and meaty-lover food…didn’t try the cakes but they looked amazing.

There is loads of other things to do here as it’s based in Curborough Antiques & Crafts Centre so you can eat and then have a stroll around the shops.

Full review coming soon - but an overall score of 3.5 out of 5 was agreed. Definitely worth a visit. 🥰

It’s a rainy Sunday morning but that’s ok as we are going for breakfast- but where to go???

Spike and I like to find lovely places for breakfast, we eat and chat and then score the overall experience out of 5.
However because we are weird and my neurodivergent brain likes to document things, we decided to start scoring the experience for its different elements…so here they are:

- Food yum factor (generally how much the food makes you say mmmmmmm)
- food quality - meat, veggie options
- drink options - how many strange teas do they have
- service - friendliness, speed of food arriving
- environment - atmosphere and setting
- extra specialness - any other wow factors
- farm shop/ other

Enjoy!
