PLOT TWIST: Our dream trip to Lake Garda was cancelled just 8 days before we were due to fly… and it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened!

11 days in Cyprus and I’m already wishing I was back.
☀️

When we were told our Lake Garda hotel was undergoing a major refurbishment and there were no suitable alternative hotels available, we had to quickly change our plans. At the time it felt like a disaster, but looking back, it was a blessing in disguise.

We ended up in Cyprus, staying in a fantastic hotel, soaking up the sunshine, enjoying amazing food, and making memories we’ll never forget. Safe to say, we completely fell in love with the island.

Now that we’re home, I’m keeping the holiday vibes alive with a Soli Pink Cyprus Gin, and reminiscing about an incredible 11 days away.

The Worst Cocktails We Had in Paphos.

If you’re going to serve classic cocktails at least get them right.

On a recent visit to Captains Bistro at Paphos Harbour, we ordered a Whiskey Sour and a Blue Lagoon. They certainly looked the part, but unfortunately that’s where the positives ended.

The “Whiskey Sour” tasted more like whiskey topped up with ginger ale, with none of the balance, citrus or smoothness you’d expect from a classic cocktail. The Blue Lagoon was the opposite problem, overwhelmingly sweet and difficult to drink after a few sips.

Neither of us finished our drinks, which is something we rarely do.

A great reminder that presentation isn’t everything. These cocktails looked fantastic against the harbour backdrop, but sadly the taste didn’t match the appearance.

Based on our experience, we wouldn’t recommend Captains Bistro for cocktails.
