If you’re a pasta lover, do yourself a favour and get yourself to Zucchini Pasta Bar. 🇮🇹🍝
Everything here is made fresh, portions are generous and the flavours are exactly what you want from a proper Italian comfort food spot.
We started with their famous ciabatta garlic bread, served with a rich pizza sauce for dipping, and I can absolutely see why it’s become their signature. Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy in the middle, loaded with garlic butter and impossible to stop eating.
The Triangle Ravioli filled with chestnut mushroom, tarragon & gorgonzola was silky and packed with earthy, rich flavours, while the Pappardelle Nduja & Chicken Amatriciana brought the perfect amount of heat. The slow-cooked tomato sauce, tender chicken and ribbons of fresh pasta made for a seriously comforting bowl.
We also tried the fried chicken parmesan thigh with nduja, which was really good. Crispy, juicy chicken topped with bubbling mozzarella, rich tomato sauce and a kick of nduja that took it to another level.
Dessert was the whipped salted caramel & dark chocolate tiramisu, and this was hands down one of my favourite tiramisus in Newcastle. Light, creamy and packed with coffee flavour, with the salted caramel adding a delicious twist without overpowering the classic.
To drink, the espresso martini was smooth and perfectly balanced, while the amaretto & cherry cola slushy was a fun, nostalgic cocktail that I’d happily order again.
If you’re after fresh pasta, indulgent comfort food and a relaxed spot that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Zucchini is one that’s well worth adding to your list.
