Autumn is rolling in, and this is what we’ve been making for it.

Lentil & Root Veg Hotpot filling. Lentils, carrots, peas, swede and a gravy worth the wait. Vegan, palm oil free, and about to be wrapped in flaky shortcrust.

Our pastry recipe is older than most of the pie industry.

Traditional all butter shortcrust, made the way it’s been made for hundreds of years. Rubbed by hand. Rested overnight. Baked the next morning. No shortcuts, because there aren’t any that work.

The only thing we changed is the butter. Ours is vegan with shea butter as the main fat, not palm oil. Organic Shipton Mill flour does the rest.

Most pies you’ll eat were made with pastry someone else bought in. Ours never has been. 🌱🥧

Everything here is temperature and patience. 🌡️⏳

Block cubed cold so it stays in flakes rather than melting into the flour. Rested properly before it goes anywhere near a rolling pin. Traditional shortcrust, made vegan, made without palm oil. 🌱

The pie that started it all. Still undefeated.

2019, our small flat kitchen in Newcastle, one stubborn idea that vegan comfort food shouldn't taste like a compromise. Six British Pie Awards later, this is still the one people order first and still the one they come back for.

Organic Shipton Mill flour, flaky palm oil free shortcrust, rich ale gravy. Still made by hand in our little Northumberland pie bakery.🖤🤍

🍫 OK, WE’VE GOT BROWNIES.

And they’re GOOD.

Rich, fudgy, properly chocolatey, with that all-important crackly top — made for us by a brilliant local vegan micro-bakery.

They’re also completely palm oil free. 🌱

They arrive frozen alongside your pies, so you can stash them away and defrost one whenever the need for chocolate strikes. Cold and extra fudgy, room temp with a cuppa, or warmed up with a scoop of ice cream. 👌

Homemade Chocolate Brownies are on the shop now. 🍫✨

Caponata & Puy Lentil Pie. Final bake of the summer, fresh on site now.

Aubergine, courgette, tomato, puy lentils, palm oil free shortcrust. Gone until next year after this.

We’ve had it said about this one more times than we can count, and after eating our own body weight in them, we’re inclined to agree.

Jalapeño Mac, Cheeze & Bacun. Fresh batch, limited numbers, gone before you know it.

The secret to our Mushroom and Roast Garlic Pie is in this tray.

Whole cloves, oven-roasted until golden and sweet. No powder, no paste, no shortcuts.

Magpye pies are now in the freezers at Brocksbushes Farm Shop near Corbridge, which means the people of Northumberland can finally buy our pies without waiting for a courier.
