Another incredible sold-out weekend done, and as always, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who came down, and everyone who has pre-ordered for the upcoming weeks.

However, this morning, while out with Big Norm, I couldn’t help but feel sad thinking about some of the events over the weekend.

I was on site cooking for 32 hours across Friday and Saturday, and during that time there were two separate incidents where people felt they had no other option but to put themselves on the other side of the railings on two of Newcastle’s bridges.

As someone who has had mental health tear through their life & family, seeing or hearing about something like this is always a reminder of just how hard life can sometimes be and how much people can be going through without those around them knowing.

There are nearly 10k BBQ lovers on here, so I’m asking all of you, but even if just one person does it, I’ll be happy,
Please check in on someone today.

A mate. A family member. Someone you haven’t heard from in a while. Just a simple “How are you doing?” could mean more to someone than you realise.

Sorry for the sad note on a Bank Holiday, but I believe BBQ is about community, and hopefully we can all do our little bit to look after each other. ❤️

9 YEARS IN THE MAKING!

After going to a food festival 9 years ago and seeing people serve bbq for a living I rage quit my office job in Manchester, and moved back north to peruse what I thought was a bullet proof idea.

Naive as hell, I bought a smoker and set off trying to make something out of “Ruffs Smoke Shack”, however I was never able to get it off the ground and if failed miserably! Life moved on, new office jobs came and went, but I kept one thing constant and that was doing what I love and bbqing at every opportunity.

Last year I read ‘What’s your dream’ by Simon Squibb | the DREAM guy and it made me realise there was no better time than now to go all in, and it’s been one of the hardest, but best things I’ve ever done.

This year has been wild, and more than I even could have dreamed of, which has all been down to everyone coming down and trying Good for the Soul Barbecue, so thank you!

I love doing this, and I don’t want to stop anytime soon, so hopfully I can do this post all over again in 9 more years.

With temperatures still 20+ we imagine as proper northerners we will still be enjoying Good for the Soul Barbecue outside, but should it be needed, 2 dinning spaces & bars are ready to go!

We have four more services lined up, and available for pre-orders down at Summer On The Southside but after that Season 2, and the best summer we could have asked for comes to a close.

Season 3 is in the works, but as it stands, there are four more chances for you to pick up our Good for the Soul BBQ🥺

Well, the summer wasn’t going to last forever which means we’ve got 6 more weekends to go until we wrap up season 2 😢

6 weeks, 6 services and a whole lot more bbq to serve you all.

Season 3 planning is fully underway, with more info to come soon, but for now, 19th of September is our final date of the summer.

Starting to look back on July, and before we dive into the full month recap, i just wanted to shout one of suppliers who is making this possible; Olly and the team at ProSmoke BBQ

They have now hooked us up with 2x pits and everything else you could need from a garden set up to a commercial set up! Butchers paper, spray bottles, knives, charcoal, rubs, the list goes on.

We wouldn’t have been able to make Big Norm’s happen without them so a BIG thank you is needed 🖤🤝🏼

Luckily, due to the stress of running a business and the endless hours of being on my feet i can now close the jacket in the last picture 😅
