I did say that their Sunday roast looked to pretentious for me. The Pod suggested I try the Sunday roast. So that’s exactly what I did. Me and Mrs Big Beardie booked a table online and headed down there.

We both ordered the one course meat feast meal. Chicken breast and pulled beef centred in a ‘head sized’ Yorkshire pudding, alongside that was the roast potatoes and parsnips. Served separately was the veg and the gravy. Oh the gravy. I think it has to be considered the best gravy I’ve had on a roast. Full flavoured and rich, not to runny and not to thick.
The chicken was cooked to perfection. Juicy and seasoned well. The beef was melt in your mouth good. The roasties and the parsnips were nice but not the best I’ve had but still good quality. The Yorkshire pudding was massive but did lack something on its own. However as your not really going to be eating it without a bit of veg or meat or gravy then it isn’t an issue at all.

The veg consisted of cauliflower cheese. Greens (peas, broccoli and string beans) and a sweet potato mash. Again all cooked well and stayed warm throughout the meal. Great addition to the main plate.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was vibrant and friendly. No overbearing music being played or to much noise coming from the kitchen area (which was right behind us). Staff were friendly and attentive. In some places I’ve felt almost forgotten about but not at the pod. Service was quick and efficient.

The only thing I can say negatively is the lack of parking outside. Also the table was a bit wobbly and so was my chair. However in the restaurant’s defence we were sat on a table of four and could have moved over a seat but it didn’t spoil anything.

I rate every roast against my grandma’s Christmas dinner, which means no one is going to get full marks as you can’t beat childhood memories. So with that in mind I’d give the Pods Sunday roast a 8.5/10.

Anniversary meal at the Dragonfly Inn. Meal was very nice tho the service did lack that excellent edge.
2 three course meals and four drinks £75, which I would expect from a restaurant not a pub.
Don’t let that put you off tho the food is very good.

Received my first ever snack surprise box today.
Paid for the original box, which is the medium sized box.
We have snacks from Portugal. Every month will be a different country. Already tried the lays crisps (chips). They were stunning. Only item I there I won’t be trying is the whole almonds in milk chocolate and dusted with cinnamon, that’s because I don’t like almonds.

Amazing raspberry and white chocolate muffin. Muffin was very fluffy and delicate. The flavours were paired well and complemented eachother well.
The lemon muffin wasn’t as fluffy and delicate. It was a little dense. In the middle of the muffin was a very sickly blob of lemon flavoured something. At first glance we thought it was butter cream or very similar. It was left with only a quarter of the blob eaten. The flavouring of the muffin itself was nicely done. Lemon flavour wasn’t to strong that it was over powering but wasn’t weak enough that you couldn’t taste it.
There were other treats available from flapjacks to shortcake and other muffins.

Highly recommend The Wild Hare in Tintern.

Beautiful hotdogs and fries from Frank hotdogs pop up shop. Bonus points for the beer and chilli poppers while we waited. Sat in the fading sunlight on Llandaff fields enjoying cheese and smoked bacon topped fries and hotdog, surrounded by others who had the same amazing idea as us. Couldn’t have asked for better on a lovely Easter Friday.
