September, we are ready for you!

We've got some Autumn flavours in the pipeline but are holding out for the last few weeks of summer ๐ŸŒž

We aren't quite ready to say goodbye to sunny days and iced drinks just yet!

Another fantastic weekend has come and gone. This time we were trading with THE STALLS in West Bridgford. What a great community, who support small businesses like ours despite the green being surrounded by an abundance of coffee choices. Thank you!

Now it's time for a little break. Some R&R. Some adventures in North Wales ๐Ÿšตโ€โ™€๏ธ

Summer isn't always the best time of year when it comes to coffee sales, but it's still my favourite season!

Maybe it's because I love an iced Americano ๐ŸงŠ

Maybe it's the serotonin from the sun ๐ŸŒž

Maybe it's because people are happier to stop and chat in the sunshine ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Sustainability question time...

Most of us own a reusable cup or bottle these days... but how often do we actually have it with us when we need that coffee? We offer 20p off any drink when you bring your own reusable cup. We'd love to see more of them, but in reality we only get handed a handful each day.

This isn't a guilt trip. We've lost count of the number of times we've needed a caffeine fix and realised our reusable cup is sitting at home! It did get us thinking about the cups we use though.

At the moment, all of our cold cups and lids are made from PLA, a plant based material supplied by our fantastic B Corp packaging partner. But after digging into it a bit more, we're starting to question whether PLA is actually the best option.

PLA is commercially compostable, but only if it ends up in the right waste stream. If it's thrown into general waste, or accidentally mixed with standard plastic recycling, it can create its own challenges.

On the other hand, rPET is made from recycled plastic, can usually be recycled through existing kerbside collections, and generally requires less water and energy to process.

We're still learning, and we'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts. Is PLA the better choice? Or is using recycled and recyclable plastic the more practical option?

Let us know in the comments x
