It's here! This weekend! The Ancaster Group Motor Show! Chislehurst is THE place to be this Sunday for a fantastic family day out! We have you completely covered in terms of the best selection of classic and supercars and bikes, a kids corner, food and drink and the very best of community spirit!

Last years event was fabulous and we are hoping to give you even more this year, we've even rolled in a steam engine!

The event is free, and is open from 11am to 3.30pm. All you need is yourself, your family if you are bringing one, and money for refreshments and donations. Don't forget, at Visit Chislehurst we are super dog friendly, so bring your furry friend too!

The High Street will be closed to traffic and buses are on divert. If you are coming in by car you will need to park behind the Post Office or in local roads.

Once again we would like to thank all of our wonderful sponsors, we cannot do any of our events without you and you make this possible for the whole community. Secondly, we'd like to thank everyone who has volunteered to help on the day.

Clean Monday & Sarakosti – The 40-Day Path to Greek Easter

Clean Monday marks the beginning of Sarakosti, the 40-day Lenten period that leads to Greek Easter — the most sacred and celebrated moment in the Greek calendar. It is a day rooted in purification, renewal, and the gentle transition into spring, when Greek families traditionally gather outdoors to share a table of fasting foods and begin this seasonal journey together.

The cuisine of Clean Monday and Lent reflects simplicity, balance, and respect for tradition. Meat and dairy are set aside, giving prominence to plant-based ingredients, legumes, grains, and seafood. Classic elements of the Sarakosti table include lagana (traditional unleavened flatbread), hummus, vine leaf dolmadakia, olives, giant beans, pickled vegetables, seasonal salads, kalamarakia (fried or grilled squid), octopus, shellfish, and sesame halva. The flavours are pure, Mediterranean, and deeply connected to Greek heritage.

Throughout Greece, these 40 days are a period of moderation and anticipation before the festive abundance of Easter. Clean Monday therefore holds a symbolic place as the ceremonial opening of this path toward Easter celebration.
