Welcome to the new Bake & Butty Pen*stone page! 🥖
I’m Alessandro, the owner of Bake & Butty, and baking has always been a huge part of my life. As a true Italian, it’s in my blood! I grew up baking with my Nonna, and I’d like to think she passed on some of her best secrets and a real passion for artisan baking.
I run the bakery alongside my wife, Lucy. You’ll usually find her downstairs serving our wonderful customers while I’m upstairs baking fresh sourdough and preparing the day’s sweet treats. Being a family-run business means everything to us.
Some of you may already know us from Bridge Bakery in Stocksbridge, which we founded and where we were proud to win Best Sourdough at the Craft Bakers Competition, along with several other awards for our artisan baking.
Baking is a family tradition for Lucy too. Her family founded the Old Bridge Bakery in Holmfirth back in 1996, and funnily enough, that’s where the two of us first met!
At Bake & Butty, we’re passionate about keeping things truly artisan. That means making everything in-house, using quality ingredients, traditional methods, and plenty of care.
We’d love for you to follow our new page and join us on the journey as we share life inside our busy family bakery, from fresh loaves straight out of the oven to the sweet treats we love creating.
