Our Countryside Classroom of 2026 under the sun yesterday at Benan Farm. 👩🌾
In partnership with
185 children from the Girvan cluster schools
54 exhibitors from across the south west
33 volunteers to keep the show on the road. 💥
We loved having you all!
Before we flood the internet with pictures of children training gun dogs, designing tweed, grooming rare bread sheep, rolling wool, fly fishing, fly tying, looking through microscopes at soil and insects and leaves, through binoculars and night sights, identifying bones and animal tracks, building wind turbines, soap carving, sitting on vintage tractors and brand new Argocats, eating cheese (and ice creams), knitting, spinning, basket weaving, stick making & bee keeping…. 😮💨 and so much more,
There are many people we want to thank first,
Carrick Futures and the Barr Community Fund, SSE, Nadara, and Scottish Power Renewables & all their community grant panel members.
The many RHET volunteers who gave up the day to lead each group, the bus drivers who navigated the winding single track roads to get here, particularly South Ayrshire Community Transport, the village halls of Barr, Pinwherry and Colmonell for lending us tables, chairs, tents and gazebos, the McKechnie family, the Colmonell Show committee and the Barr SCIO, Elena & Nic from for their support, many of our neighbours, who at a particularly busy time for farming, came to help us set up in the slanting rain and kept our spirits up when we feared it would be a total wash out.
Jamie Macdonald sign writer extraordinaire, Purdie’s greengrocer in Girvan, Hannah at , Hamilton Haulage, , South West Agricultural Contracting, Livingston of Castle Douglas & and to our small and mighty team who have worked so hard for weeks to pull it all together. Thank you.
More photos (and more thank yous) to follow….once we’ve caught our breath.
