NPT Food will be at the Heart of the Valleys Show tomorrow, so come along and say hello to Zoe - who will be very easy to spot as she’ll be dressed as a pea! 😂💚

While you’re there, make sure you pick up a copy of the brand new NPT Food Guide, packed with local food stories, producers and places from across Neath Port Talbot.

Funding for Rural Community & Education Projects (UK)

The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust offers grants for initiatives that support charities in the UK working in agriculture and rural development. The Trustees are particularly interested in initiatives that meet the following criteria:

- Advance the education of the public using research and dissemination of information about agriculture
- Advance the education of young people within rural areas
- Relieve poverty within rural areas
- Promote the benefit and social welfare of rural community inhabitants by associating with the inhabitants and local authorities, voluntary and other organisations to advance education and leisure.
- Promote research into agriculture-associated activities
- Advance the education of the public using research and dissemination of information in relation to insurance provided that the charity may also promote, facilitate and support any such other purposes as are exclusively charitable according to the laws of England and Wales

Grants range from £1,000 to £75,000. Larger grants are used to support organisations that significantly impact rural communities nationally.

Projects funded in the past have ranged from City farms, Federations of Young Farmers Clubs and farming Community Networks.

The next closing date for applications is 9 October 2026 to be considered in the December 2026 meeting.

We're so pleased to be working with Glantawe Riverside Park as they develop their new market garden. A big step forward in our goal of improving access to local, sustainable, good food in NPT. Watch this space!

We have some exciting news to share with you 💚 Thanks to the generous funding we have received from NPT Food Partnership we are beginning a new market garden at Glantawe Riverside Park, called, 'Gardd Glantawe' A Good Place to Grow.
Our aim is to sell produce grown without the use of chemicals to our community. This includes a new mushroom growing project, the NPT food partnership have also provided a bursary to support this.
This is a community project grounded in the Permaculture ethics of Earth care, People care, Fair share.
We have spent a lot of time considering the best place to put the new garden. As the enclosed field is an important designated meadow area we will be developing the area alongside the meadow. Therefore, the area will be fenced off as we develop this exciting new venture, the rest of the path around the meadow remains open.

We're really excited to be working with Cegin y Bobl on a six-week cooking skills course for the year 5 pupils of a Port Talbot primary school. It's the first time we're working with this fantastic charity, and we hope it won't be the last!

Next stop: Neath Port Talbot 👀

We’re excited to announce that Cegin y Bobl and NPT Food Partnership are teaming up for a new project starting this September.

Schoolchildren at a local school will experience a six-week Food Discovery course: getting stuck-in in the kitchen, cooking food from scratch, and picking fresh ingredients on a farm.

Another step forward in our mission to ! 👏

Bydd disgyblion o ysgol leol yn cael blas ar gwrs Darganfod Bwyd chwe wythnos: yn coginio bwyd ffres, go-iawn yn y gegin, a chasglu cynnyrch ffres o'r fferm i'w goginio.
