Galloway has entered that phase of autumn where every road disappears into a tunnel of gold leaves and every village feels like it’s keeping a very charming secret. 🍂🌲

The sort of place where somebody could invite you to a harvest celebration and you’d only start asking questions when the wickerwork appeared. 🔥😳

Last night’s bottles feel entirely on brand. 🍷

A Sicilian Riserva full of dark cherries, to***co and spice. The w**e equivalent of arriving in a dramatic cloak and immediately becoming the centre of attention. 🇮🇹🍒

A Montsant packed with juicy Garnacha fruit, wild herbs and enough charm to persuade you that following strangers into a field is perfectly sensible. 🇪🇸🌿

Hot girl summer’s over - it’s witchy w**e time 👻

Spooky season is here 🎃

The supermarkets are selling pumpkins. The candles smell aggressively of cinnamon. Everyone’s pretending they like being cold.

Meanwhile, we’re focusing on the important things -
Blanquette de Limoux, Comté and posh crisps 🍂

The Blanquette is all apples, pears and orchard-fruit freshness. Like walking through an autumn orchard, except significantly more fun and with considerably less exercise.

Then comes Amarone 🍒

Big, rich, glorious Amarone.

Served with a roast chicken stuffed with autumnal good intentions and surrounded by figs, shallots and mushrooms.

There are many horrors in life 😱

Warm white w**e. Cheap chocolate. Sunday evening. And perhaps most terrifying of all...

The suggestion that chicken can only be paired with white w**e 👻

One orange w**e, one plate of anchovies, one bowl of feta-covered fries and suddenly you're cancelling any ambitions of being productive.

Three venues absolutely understood the assignment.

The Riesling was razor-sharp, the Viognier was all stone fruit and swagger, and the orange w**e got the day off to exactly the sort of start that makes timelines and responsibilities feel increasingly theoretical.

🚨 Wee Caviste has returned to Scotland. 🚨

After a thoroughly exhausting period of "research" across Ch*****ne, the Basque Country, Catalunya and Provence, we're back home and armed with far more knowledge than is strictly necessary about Ch*****ne, Txakoli, Cava and Rosé.

There were vineyard visits. There were questionable decisions involving "just one more glass". There were lengthy debates about acidity, lees ageing and whether pintxos should count as a complete food group. There may also have been some sunshine.

The good news is that we've come back with loads of new stories, new w**es, fresh ideas and plenty of inspiration for future tastings.

So if you've been thinking about booking a Wee Caviste event, now's the time. The passport has been stamped, the homework has been done, and we're ready to bore delight you with everything we've learned along the way.

Ch*****ne. Txakoli. Cava. Rosé.
It's a hard life, but someone has to do it.

What. A. Night 🫶✨

We had such a great night at the breathtaking Galloway Larder last night in the beautiful Gatehouse of Fleet. These guys have the most beautiful w**e bar and the food that chef made to accompany the w**es was INCREDIBLE.

We showcased some stunning w**es from **es - from fresh and bubbly sparkling w**es, to some trusted favourites - with the show stoppers for the night being .loosen’s Ürzinger Würszgarten and **e’s Grenache MF which we served chilled.

Thank you so much for having us, The Galloway Larder by Apothecally and thank you so much gorgeous guests for coming!
