We have published new guidance for food businesses such as restaurants, cafes and takeaways, on how to provide allergen information to consumers. If you have a food allergy, intolerance or coeliac disease, you can read about the new guidance to find out how it will help keep you safe.

Don’t forget to also and always tell the restaurant about your food allergy before you order. Trained staff will know what to do to keep your meal safe.

Happy Easter!

Ever wondered what the white, chalky bits you sometimes see on chocolate is? It’s called chocolate bloom, and while it doesn’t look the most appetising, it is safe to eat.

Chocolate bloom is caused by fat or sugar separating in the chocolate, normally due to a change in temperature, or coming into contact with moisture. Storing your choc in a cool, dry, dark place with help to prevent it happening in future.

(Alternatively, tell friends and family it’s not safe to eat and that you’ll take care of it for them.)
