Hay, haylage and Straw.

This winter is proving to be a time of scarce supplies all round and at high prices.
So let's plan ahead to the summer and think of ensuring supplies for the winter of 2026. We have scope to take on some more hay and haylage making into our route throughout the season. We can offer both rounds and 80x90 square baling or any part there of, of the process to suit your needs. Including square bale wrapping (not longer than 6ft). We also offer straw baling services for harvest season in both round and square bales. We have customers that find one 80x90 bale at 5ft long is the perfect amount of straw for a fresh re-bed in a stable. These are far easier to move than bigger square bales, they also fit on trollies and fit through stable doors. So can be opened inside the stable, reducing mess and losses.

We also offer many other services and not limited to;
Bale wrapping
Tractor and man hire
Full or part hay and haylage making services
Contract farming agreements
Contract combining
Cultivation
Hydraulic auto-set subsoiling- potential for this to be a min till drilling pass also.

From all of us at RBLM, we would like to wish all our customers, friends, suppliers and everyone we trade with a merry christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.

Tomorrow the 23rd is our last day until after new year. The two apprentices and the wife will have my undivided attention. So no hay or straw deliveries i am afraid.

2025 has proven to be a significant challenge. The drought from March through to September brought about one of the most strenuous seasons, or should i say, the most strenuous season i have had to endure and consequently the family and team. However, we have kept on smiling and working on throughout it. Thankfully, to offset some of the thin crops, we have gained new customers and more work for the seasons ahead. Hopefully, never again will we have a year with weather like 2025, 2024,2023...........

So should you be looking for a contractor for harvest to harvest works, one off jobs, combining, baling, tractor and man plus much much more. Please don't hesitate to contact us. It has been a long time since our last post. All due to one hell of a challenging, relentless and stressful summer. We don't want or need a drought and summer like this year again. Just a small selection of pictures from this years summer of madness. It has seen us start much earlier on hay making and harvest than ever before and also cutting grass later.

We have also kept on improving and upgrading our equipment. The Agriweld auto-reset toolbar/ subsoiler has proven to be a huge step forward in efficency and improving soil health and drainage.

Let's see what the last few weeks in 2025 have in store for us. Hopefully, they aren't too wet and we can get back on the land to get muck spread and some cultivation following that.

A busy start to the week with the fine weather making an appearance for a change. We have carried out lots of mowing in hard to reach places, amenity jobs caught up on and several loads of hay out. Last week we were busy with trees to cut down, make safe or cut back for a local parish council.

Lovely hay for sale, available in small or large quantities. Collection or delivery.

Here at RBLM, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow farmers, growers, contractors, and customers. Many of whom have gone to London today. Sadly, we couldn't make it with work commitments and contracts on in this weather.

Back British farming but also back reducing taxes for all!

Our thoughts today will be with the brave men and women of the armed forces that 80 years ago. Spearheaded the liberation of Europe so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. Their sacrifices and toil meant that we can farm and live in peace. Something we will always be grateful for.

We have been very quiet on here, but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. Yesterday, the potato planting campaign was finished. What an interesting time to say the least! Working against the weather and un ideal soil conditions winter had left us.

Lots of grounds maintenance works being going off and more to catch up on also.

2023 has been an interesting and challenging year to say the least, but as always, we persevered and come out the other side ready for 2024.

Quality counts!

A Titanic effort from the team over the last day and a half.

Rotherham United asked us to take back in hand the grounds maintenance (which we have done for over 9 years now) after 5 months of another company winning the contract.

Hedges untouched all winter requiring considerable cutting back, the shrub beds untouched and now covered with w**ds. All to be seen to when nesting season is over. Four plus weeks of grass growth and some areas uncut since October last year. To top it off nothing was cut before the last home game of the season where we secured safety in the Championship.

After some serious graft from the lads we have it in some kind of shape and after the next visit in a fortnight's time it'll be back to how it was.

Grass cutting, strimming, litter picking and w**d spraying around the stadium and the grounds completed.

Onto the next job on the list........
