🌻☀️Sunshine & Showers…🌻☀️

🐝🌿After some glorious warm sunshine, followed by a couple of weeks of unsettled weather, our first, early planted patch of sunflowers are absolutely thriving! A huge relief after the difficulties we faced last season 🐝🌿

🚜🌼The weather has such a huge impact on farming and can make or break a crop and year for all types of farmers up and down the country. Each year, upon planting crops, it is such a huge worry what the coming months have in store weather wise and no matter how many times we refresh the forecast app it is still completely out of our control. 🌼🚜

🌱🌻Thankfully this year is so far proving a lot more positive for us here at Little Wytheford than last and that glorious sea of colour is on the horizon! 🌱🌻

🌻🐝Searching for the sun…🌻🐝

🚜🌿We don’t know about everyone else but this weather is leaving us with no idea what to wear each morning! For the past few days it really has felt like we are living through 3 seasons in a day here at the farm! 🚜🌿

🌻☀️Thankfully however our super little sunflowers are thriving in this changeable weather. This is our second field of two, and we are just delighted with how the plants are looking 🌻☀️

🌼🌿Now the seedlings are established we really can start to look forward to a super season ahead! We can not wait to welcome everyone to the farm once again! 🌼🌿

🌱☀️Wiping out the weeds…🌱☀️

🚜🌻With the scorching Bank Holiday weather our little Sunflowers are reaching for the skies! To ensure they grow the best they can a super important job is weeding them with our special precision machine. 🚜🌻

☀️🌱The weather is perfect for this job today as once the weeds are chopped they sit on the surface and are quickly wilted by the hot sunshine, meaning they have less chance of surviving and growing back! ☀️🌱

🌼🦋This method of weeding also means there is no need for sprays or chemicals, just a few more hours in the tractor cab, which thankfully has some lovely air conditioning! 🦋🌼

🐝🌱A small snapshot of what has been happening here on the farm this week. As we rapidly move through the year it is now a super busy, but very exciting time for us here at Little Wytheford 🐝🌱

☀️🚜Seeds & Sunshine…☀️🚜

🐝🌿Planting season has officially begun here on the farm! The sun has been shining and we have got our first seeds of the season in the ground!🐝🌿

☀️🚜Amelia was on the drivers seat whilst Simon followed the drill to ensure all was being planted correctly in the soil ☀️🚜

🌿☔️As much as we love this sunshine we are hoping for a drop of rain in the not too distant future to keep the seeds happy, germinating and growing! 🌿☔️
