Our customers have excellent taste

Everyone has their CULTJAR favourite. The jar that gets spooned onto everything, disappears far too quickly and makes its way straight back into the next order.

Here are a few of yours ❤️

Comforting jars for Autumn Days.

Despite the beautiful weather we’re still enjoying, we can feel the seasons starting to turn. The midst in the early morning, the wet grass, the darker evenings… Down in Somerset, our wellies are well and truly back out of hibernation!

This time of year calls for big, comforting flavours, so here’s our pick of seasonal jars - bringing warmth and depth of flavour to everything from slow-cooked suppers to simple lunches.

First up, Red Cabbage, Beetroot & Garam Masala. This popular ferment has real depth and sweet warming spice, perfect with Autumn favourites like venison or a rich, creamy curry.

Thai Yellow Curry Carrots

Fragrant lemongrass, galangal, coconut and warming spices make this carrot ferment perfect for cooler days.

Add a piquant kick to a creamy curry or dhal, or serve alongside a root vegetable soup for a welcome hit of freshness.

Spiced Cauliflower

Warming turmeric, cumin, coriander and nigella make this cauliflower ferment a natural choice for Autumn.

Its satisfying crunch are particularly good alongside lamb, fried fish or roasted aubergine. Or spooned generously into a warm flatbread.

Apple, Cardamom & Ginger.

Apples, warming ginger and fragrant cardamom make this a natural choice for Autumn.

Spoon generously over porridge or Greek yoghurt on chilly mornings, use it to lift an afternoon slice of cake, or serve alongside roast pork for the ultimate comfort food.

COME AND MAKE KIMCHI WITH US 🌶️

After a brilliant (and sold out!) fermentation workshop earlier this year, we’re heading back to our friends and stockists Teals for another morning of fermenting, tasting and eating.

This time, it’s all about KIMCHI.

Join CULTJAR founder Peter Prescott for a hands-on masterclass, learn the secrets behind our classic kimchi and make your own jar to take home. We’ll be tasting plenty along the way, before finishing with lunch at Teals.

Thursday 15th October | 10.30am–1.30pm
Teals, A303 Somerset | £60pp

Places are limited. Head to teals.co.uk/events to book.

Come hungry. Leave with kimchi. 🌶️

Kimchi is so much more than fermented cabbage.

For centuries, kimchi has been part of Korean food culture, preserving seasonal vegetables through fermentation. There are hundreds of varieties, with recipes changing by region, season and family tradition.

At CULTJAR, we use authentic gochugaru and gochujang imported from Korea, alongside garlic, ginger and spring onion, before letting the microbes do their thing.

Crunchy, sour, savoury, with just the right kick of heat. We’ll eat it with pretty much anything.

Long live kimchi.

The first days of Autumn have got us reaching for this delicious jar of Apple, Ginger & Cardamom.

Ideal at the beginning of the day with yoghurt and granola (or porridge if you have the time…)

Or equally as perfect alongside roast pork for a seasonal Sunday Roast.

“This Apple sauce is absolutely delicious and addictive! It has such a unique combination of flavours - best Apple sauce I’ve eaten in my lifetime! Love it and recommend it”

Happy CULTJAR customer 👌

Created in collaboration with top nutritionist Eve Kalinik | Nutritional Therapist - this jar is incredibly comforting and gently spiced.

Apples offer fibre and polyphenols that support digestion, balanced with ginger and cardamom for their digestive and anti-inflammatory qualities, and a touch of honey for natural sweetness.

We spend a lot of time thinking about how food tastes.

Eve Kalinik | Nutritional Therapist spends a lot of time thinking about the impact that the food we eat can have on our minds and bodies.

As a leading nutritionist specialising in gut health, Eve brought a nutrition-first perspective to the CULTJAR kitchen, looking at ingredients, plant diversity and preservation through a different lens.

We brought the seasonal produce, fermentation know-how and a fairly uncompromising view that, however good something is for you, it still has to taste brilliant.

The result is a collection of 3 delicious jars we’re all very proud of:

Our Beetroot & Red Onion Ferment, made in collaboration with Eve Kalinik | Nutritional Therapist is made using Cylindra beetroots grown here at Worminster Farm in Somerset, travelling literally metres from the ground to the jar.

Eve’s flavour inspiration, our fermentation know-how and the work of trillions of microbes do the rest.

Earthy, slightly sweet and brilliant for adding colour and flavour to a plate. Eve loves it with wild rice, feta and herbs, Puy lentils with tahini and lemon, or in a gorgonzola sourdough toastie 😋👌

When nutrition meets really good food.

We loved working with leading nutritionist and gut-health specialist Eve Kalinik | Nutritional Therapist on this collection of three CULTJAR recipes.

We usually begin with flavour, exceptional seasonal produce and the best way to preserve it. Eve brought a different perspective, approaching each recipe with nutrition front of mind, while we made sure the end result was something you’d genuinely want to eat.

Spiced Cauliflower. Beetroot & Red Onion. Apple, Ginger & Cardamom.

Three very different jars, created with one shared principle: food that is seriously good for you should taste seriously good too.

Available individually or as part of our Nutritionist Recommends collection.

A real showstopper for a long lunch with friends.

Whole brill, filled with our Fennel & Lemon Ferment and baked in a salt crust until perfectly cooked. Crack open at the table and serve simply, with a salad, good bread and plenty more ferment alongside.

Cooked by Zsuzsanna Toth at Worminster Farm, Somerset.
