A brand-new venue has landed in Ouseburn 👀

If you’ve ever wandered through Ouseburn and thought Newcastle needed more spaces that bring together live music, food, art and community events, this might be exactly that.

Ouseburn Event Space has opened inside a transformed industrial warehouse on Lime Street and it’s aiming to be much more than a venue hire space. From live gigs and exhibitions to markets, major sporting screenings and creative events, it’s designed to showcase the independent spirit that makes Ouseburn one of the most exciting areas in Newcastle.

With local favourites like Wylam Brewery, Deep North and Nomad Kababi involved, it already feels rooted in the neighbourhood rather than dropped into it.

Freight Island Newcastle opens TONIGHT at 4pm!🔥

{Ad} Newcastle’s biggest hospitality opening in years has officially landed on Newgate Street, transforming the former Debenhams store into a huge food, drink and entertainment destination. And we mean HUGE!

Inside you’ll find some incredible food traders including, but not limited to, , , , .food.mcr, , .souvla and 🍔🍕🥟🥙🥧

And don’t forget, Michelin starred also have their own little spot here, PYR, a live fire restaurant.

With multiple bars, rooftop spaces, live entertainment, a massive retractable roof and a dedicated music venue still to come, Freight Island Newcastle is aiming to become one of the city’s biggest social hotspots.

From smash burgers and pizza to Asian-inspired dishes, fresh bakery treats and street food favourites, there’s plenty to get stuck into.

When a Michelin Guide listed restaurant on Gosforth High Street invites us in for Sunday lunch, we’re not saying no.

{Ad} We headed to Osters to see what their Sunday offering was all about and tucked into a proper roast with all the usual suspects – meat, Yorkshire pudding, roasties, seasonal veg and plenty of gravy.

What we got was exactly what you’d hope for from a restaurant with a strong reputation: good quality ingredients, generous portions and everything cooked well.

It might not top our all time Sunday lunch list, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal that we’d happily have again.

Mike D came to North Shields and played at King Street Social Club. It wasn’t a dream after all.

Still blown away by the buzz from last night. A Beastie Boy in North Tyneside on a wet and windy Wednesday night.

A room full of people with gigantic smiles plastered all over their faces, man.

Still can’t believe I was there. An absolute privilege.

One of the North East’s most talked about pop-ups has finally found a permanent home.

{Not an AD} After building a cult following through events across Newcastle and beyond, Shapes has opened its doors in North Shields - and it’s exactly what we hoped it would be.

We started with olives and salami & crisps before working our way through cucumber, mascarpone & chilli; salted courgettes with almonds & salsa verde; and potatoes swimming in butter & garlic.

Then came the pasta. Spinach raviolo with Westcombe ricotta; fettuccine with nduja & lemon; and pici with pancetta, chicory & pangrattato - everything outstanding. We finished with cream, berries & vin santo and Epoisses with rye crackers & mustard fruit.

No gimmicks. No overcomplicated plates.
