We’re the home of the iconic Saveloy Dip ❤️
To anyone outside the North East, it probably just looks like a really messy hot dog in the wrong type of bun – but to many locals, it is considered an absolute culinary masterpiece.
If you are a big fan of it, you already likely know the anatomy of the perfect 'Saveloy Dip'. A hot saveloy with a thick layer of pease pudding, loaded with stuffing, finished with a sharp lick of mustard, and packed into a soft white bun.
But the real magic happens right at the very end. The entire bun gets a quick plunge into what most people call 'gravy' – although the traditionalists know it is actually the hot, salty broth used to boil the sausages.
It is impossible to eat one without spilling half of it down your top, but that unbeatable taste makes the mess absolutely worth it.
Are you a fan of the 'Saveloy Dip', and if so, do you always ask for the full works when you order one?
