Would you like to help George’s Food Hub to save food from landfill and, at the same time, help people deal with the cost of living crisis?

Everyone at George’s Food Hub is a volunteer, with most of us either collecting donations from our generous partners or working to keep the hubs organised and handing out the food to our customers in a pay as you feel basis.

If you have a vehicle and wouldn’t mind picking up or dropping off food, or if you liking working with people and want to make a difference, we need you.

Maybe you’re looking for a voluntary role to boost your CV or as part of a course. Do you have a few hours to kill during the day now you’re retired or the kids are back at school?

Or maybe you have a specialist skill that could help us keep things running (hello mechanics and fridge engineers!)

If you’re interested in helping your community, and the planet, even if only for an hour or two a week, message us on Facebook and we’ll take it from there.

It’s a very rewarding role and we’d love to meet you 🙂

Our volunteers picked up some very generous donations from the three Tesco stores in Bourne and Market Deeping last night.

It’s all now safely in storage in our hub, ready for visitors to pay as they feel next week.

So, if you want to help save food from waste (and save some serious money on your weekly shop while you do it) see the sticky post on our page for opening times and locations.

Here’s just a tiny fraction of what was collected, along with a photo of the 11 crates donated by Deeping Tesco.

We’re open from 9.30-11.30am today at St Augustine’s School, Kesteven Road.

Thanks to our generous donors, including Tesco, Lidl, Nisa, Riverford and The Cornish Bakery, we’ve got lots and lots of food that you can help us to prevent from going to waste.

Pick up some potatoes, save some salad and bring home some bread, all on a pay-as-you-feel basis. All money donated goes towards the cost of running our hubs - our fridges and freezers, our collections van - you can help us keep going.

Everyone welcome - this food needs eating!

We’re always on the lookout for volunteers - either to collect from the many generous businesses who donate to us, or to help with the running of the hubs, ensuring that the donated food doesn’t go to waste and that we continue to feed bellies, not bins.

If you feel like you could spare an hour or two a week to help out, please contact us via private message and we’ll get you started.
