This week we’re appreciating some hearty roots, perfect for soups and stews, and some added mustard greens to warm up our mixed leaf salad 🔥

This weeks medium boxes include:

We thought we’d share a little sneak peak into this week’s seasonal veg boxes, as we prepare for our Thursday deliveries. It’s a great time of year for seasonal produce, as we enjoy the last of the summer goodness and welcome in some autumnal treats!

Beautiful shiny little strawberry plants on their way to the farmers’ market. These are our first ones, and we’re really pleased with how well they’ve done. Taken as runners off the parent plants just a few weeks ago, they have so much energy and desire to grow they are already well rooted and throwing out new leaves. Home grown strawberries next summer?

What a huge relief, RAIN! And with it, autumn inching in. The chicories are coming along nicely and have started going into our salad mix this week. The crunchy bittersweet nutritious chicory goodness is a big part of the autumn & winter salad mix and we are growing some exciting new varitities this year - light pinks, deep reds, every shade of green; speckled and textured, crisp and satin, can't wait! We will also be selling them as full heads soon at markets and through our box scheme.

We are starting to clear out and flip the polytunnels, to replace summer crops with autumn, winter & spring ones. There are a few new trials like Daikon radish as well as all the usuals to fill the tunnels with. We are eeking towards dewy mornings, drying seed heads and bringing in the main squash harvest, as the light slowly seeps out of the corners of the days.
