After mucking out, we move the polytunnel.

This isn't staying here. It's coming back to the yard, but in a different location. Helps with bugs! We don't disinfect, we move site (benefit of moveable sheds!). We find this helps with prevention of disease.

Mr S isn't happy about the hole in the roof. The cattle destroyed it..

Ah well, tomorrow's problem...

That sow that everyone was worried about is a pain in my bum...

She wonders around the place like she owns the place. She's going from one side of the field to the other...making holes in the grass as she goes...

She is also taking piglets with her, and some additional ones where they fancy a day out.. ! As you can see in the video, they are not all her piglets...

Blumming cheek of it...

But on a positive note, look at the green grass...

My main boar has been out for the last couple of days. He has exited his designated area and has been going around the yard, like he owns the place...

Well let's be honest, he probably does...

He is a gentle little man, he has been wondering around with the girls and piglets and weaners and he is happy with everyone. He says hello to the pen full of boys and then carried on.. ! He does make the rest of them look small!

Thankfully, he has now gone back to his pen! And hopefully he will stay there!

The amount of comments I had on this sow farrowing is unbelievable. The most I've ever had. Now, most of them are positive, but we had a few concerned she wasn't breathing, a few concerned that the string might kill her or the piglets and another couple worried that the straw would fall on her and kill her and the babies.

Now, as an update. They are all alive and well.

And to make everyone happy, I can say she has moved from her spot. Not to a specific location at the moment, as she keeps moving around dependent on the weather..

But the point is, she is doing well.

We haven't been able to get all the fences back up and running yet, so now everyone is playing happy families!!!

The old fence was burnt in the fire and the main electricity line comes off our house was also burnt. In addition, the fence was pulled down to let the fire engines into the top of the pig paddock. This has meant that the pig paddock (which Mr S hates me calling it- as its just a field), which used to accommodate 3 pig pens, is now one giant happy family!

Now, before you lot get concerned about these piglets, I would like to say that the piglets and weaners have been playing happy family for months anyway because they go under the wire. I would also say, I think people under estimate pigs - they are clever animals!

Fixing fences in my bank holiday job!

I told Mr S to be careful feeding the calves, and he asked me why...

I did give a little hint, but he said 'never'...

She (the pig) has put holes in my blummin teats now...

Free range pigs have their downsides!
