Do your pint glasses need to be UKCA marked?

We get asked this a lot by venues, festivals and hospitality operators — and the short answer is: not necessarily.
UK law currently recognises both CE-marked and UKCA-marked capacity measures, so CE-marked cups and tumblers remain fully compliant for serving stated measures (pints, half-pints, and more) across licensed premises in Great Britain. There's no obligation to switch existing CE-verified stock over to UKCA.
This only applies where drinkware is used to serve a stated measure of alcohol commercially — bars, pubs, restaurants, stadia, festivals. It doesn't apply for home use, free pours, or venues already using a separate verified measure like an optic or metered pump.

Getting this wrong isn't just a technicality — unverified measures can breach the Weights and Measures Act 1985 and licence conditions under the Licensing Act 2003, with real consequences for operators.

Why Telling Customers Their Cup is 100% Recycled (and Recyclable Again) Matters

Sustainability in packaging is now table stakes. But does the end consumer actually know?

A cup made from 100% recycled rPET looks and performs exactly like virgin plastic. Without printed messaging, the story stays invisible. Here's why on-cup messaging makes a difference:

1. Visible sustainability influences behaviour. A message like "Made from recycled materials, recycle me again" puts the credential in the customer's hand at the moment it matters most.
