Two years ago, we looked beyond what the building was… and saw what it could become!

An empty, tired space on Treorchy High Street, the kind of building that brought the high street down! Many would walk past without a second thought. But sometimes, when you care deeply enough about a community and have a passion for transformation you begin to see things differently! You see possibility. You see people. You see purpose. 🧡💛🤎

Do you ever close your eyes, and see a vision of what your community deserves? One day, after months of dust, decisions, setbacks, sacrifices, determination and stress .... it hits you! 🥹

Fern & Ivy finally now has soul growing at its roots 🌿🥹

Not just a restaurant.
Not just a refurbishment.
But a space built with purpose, opportunity and pride at its heart, somewhere that will bring people together, create opportunities for young people, support local regeneration and give something special back to the Valleys. 🌿

The Fern Partnership is a registered charity committed to supporting learning, employability and community wellbeing. Our work is centred on creating meaningful opportunities, developing skills and delivering services that make a positive and lasting difference across our communities.

The Fern & Ivy CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company and subsidiary of The Fern Partnership. It will operate as a community bistro and social space, offering high-quality food and service alongside training, development and real-world experience. Any surplus generated is reinvested into the charity’s wider social and community aims.

Together, The Fern Partnership and Fern & Ivy CIC create a connected community model that blends professional standards, creativity and quality with genuine social purpose.

Working with us means becoming part of an organisation that values respect, inclusion and doing things properly, while making a real difference to the people and communities we serve.

Working Environment & Expectations

As a Community Interest Company, our bistro is more than a standard hospitality venue. It is a community-facing space that reflects our values, our people and our commitment to excellence. We are creating a facility where creativity, quality and pride in presentation sit at the heart of everything we do — from service delivery to the overall customer experience.

These posts will play a key role in shaping the atmosphere, culture and standards of the venue. This must be a flagship space that reflects professionalism, warmth and high expectations at all times. That includes clear standards around presentation, dress code, manners, communication and overall conduct, both individually and across the wider team.

PRIVATE HIRE ENQUIRY FORM LAUNCHING SOON 🌿🧡💛🤎

Interest in our upstairs private room has been overwhelmingly positive! 🤎

As a result, we will soon be releasing a formal expression of interest form for those wishing to host baby showers, special birthdays, family celebrations or even your Christmas works celebrations for 2026 with us 🌿

Who are we ☺️

We are The Fern Partnership an award-winning social enterprise passionate about creating opportunities and driving community growth. For over a decade, we’ve supported families, developed skills, and strengthened communities across the Rhondda and Cynon Valleys.

And now… the work has started! In the amazing town of Treorchy, on our not-for profit social venture. 😊💚 🚧✨

Our new facility is officially underway, it will be a vibrant space that will support apprenticeships, deliver skills development, host community events, and help grow local businesses and partnerships.

It’s not just any development, it’s a place for our community to eat, meet, and belong. Classy, vibrant, and exactly what Treorchy deserves. With the full range of amazing local businesses already here, we’re proud to be part of this growing, thriving hub that will draw more people into the heart of our town , supporting and spending locally.

Transformation is pending… but excitement is building, and it’s going to be amazing! 🙌

We’re committed to making the space fully accessible, both downstairs and upstairs. Current funding focuses on ground floor access and preparation for Phase 2, while the first floor will be developed further in the next phase to enhance accessibility and expand community space.

We’re transforming an old, worn, and eyesore of a building into a warm, welcoming space we hope the community, locals and visitors alike, will embrace - right where the old Spares World used to be, creating a beautiful entrance as people arrive in Treorchy!

We hope to add to the mix on the High Street, bringing more people to the area and supporting a vibrant, thriving community through authentic, community-focused establishments.
